Preliminary reports state that up to 17 new IRC users went missing after being fooled by an anonymous chatter into pressing "ALT" and "F4" at the same time.?On January 12th, 2000 at about 8:00pm EST, an IRCer named qwejkdgz joined #mirchelp on EFnet and silently observed the channel.?Once all the operators had /quit or set /away, qwejkdgz enticed the newbies into a "special help offer" and told them that they could receive "automated answers" by first typing out their question then following it by pressing ALT and F4 simultaneously.?Microsoft Windows users who followed the instructions were immediately disconnected from IRC, and were exited out of their IRC client.?EFnet Officials were contacted, however the much-hated irc.lightning.net admin Callas was the only person who returned our email.?Callas would like to remind all users to never trust anything an AOL user says.?Ever.?Read More...

Ahh, this brings back memories from the good old BBS days. Newbies would come into chat asking questions, someone would tell them to type ";x" for help...and POOF! hehe. And then there were the people on 14.4 modems who would go into real-time chat with people on 2400's and flood their modems...and POOF! Nice to see that some things never change....like the great man said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

Loath, you're an idiot. This is the worst story I have ever seen on dtheatre. And that lame ass defensive comment a little bit above was just LAME. I'm just sick and tired of people who cant admit that they've done something dumb.
