Ernest Aebi is not your ordinary artist. He's a social activist who would take the extra mile to reach out to help people. During a trip in 1989 to the hot Sahara desert, he comes across the town of Araouane, a once prosperous oasis. Seeing the little town on a brink of destitution, Ernest offers help by educating the villagers on how to plant and to raise food from vegetables. His efforts paved away for a new life for the people. However, civil war broke out and Ernest was forced to escape his village, leaving a transformed town with a school, garden, and a hotel in the sands.

It took Ernest twenty years of unsuccessful attempts before he was able to return back to his village, where the people anxiously awaits his return.
