PS3 Flickers: What's causing it?
You've just brought home a new dvd game for your PS3, and wasted no time inserting it into the game console. Holding on to the controller, a few presses on the button starts the game loading. Wow, awesome graphics! But wait, what's with the PS3 Red Screen?
Must be some minor problem that would just disappear momentarily, you thought...
But even before you could start shooting away at the aliens, there's that flicker again, then another. Now the whole PS3 screen flicker. How can you play and win battles with that kind of a PS3 flicker problem???
PS3 screen flickering: tracing the problem
The PS3 flicker problem has something to do with your video interface.
Most of the time the culprit lies on the high definition multimedia interface (or HDMI) cable. Try to disconnect and reconnect that cable and see if PS3 flickering problem persists.
If replugging the HDMI cable does not solve the PS3 screen flicker problem, that cable may be defective already, so consider testing another one that is working, like the one your friend is using. It's best to have a new cable around to be sure.
You can also try turning your tv off and turning it back on during the game, as the video device can sometimes have difficulty adjusting with the screen resolution of the game. Resetting the game console at times can also do the trick in dealing with a PS3 flicker problem.
