Sony has released many firmware updates from time to time. A firmware is a tiny program that resides in your PS3 console, and stores vital information about it. While these firmware updates were intended to improve your system, it turned out the opposite after many owners claimed their PS3 bricked right after performing the update.


So how come an update that is supposed to make your gaming pleasure better became short of a nightmare? While there are no exact and concrete reasons that could explain it, the fact is that there has been an increase of customer complaints about their PS3 update brick issues. The simplest PS3 brick fix is to reformat the hard drive. If you have a spare hard drive available, you can replace the current one inside the game console with it. The PS3 would then reformat that hard drive and will eventually boot the last working firmware.


If you dont have a spare harddrive, you can still fix your PS3 bricked by reformatting it. You can do this by removing the hard drive and having it connected to a pc and formatted. The formatted hard drive is then returned to the PS3, and the PS3 would reformat it again according to its firmware setting.
