A very seemingly simple story of a father, ex-husband and a friend rolled into one person named Ben Singer. He is an unhappy man who struggles in his life and messed up with his relationship in his family and even in his career. He sees life in a pessimistic way and only finds comfort in his vices and having a regular chess with his smart and thoughtful Senegalese roommate named Ibou. When his friend became seriously ill, Ben suddenly realized his worth and with all his might, he did everything to help his friend. This situation gave Ben a chance to meet Khadi, a vivacious full of life woman who he fell in love with.
