The cable may cause the Xbox 360 screen turning black or green

As mentioned earlier, the problem may be about your AV cable. Make sure that you're using an advanced SCART AV Cable or a component HD AV Cable instead of the VGA type especially if your monitor is on the PAL standard settings. The reason why your Xbox 360 turns green or black may be that your VGA standard cable is incompatible with PAL-50. There are certain original Xbox games that will work only on PAL-50 but not on PAL-60 so you wouldn't be able to play these games on your console either if you're using VGA cable.

If you're using a standard definition television, you will need to configure your 360 to work with the screen and set the display settings to PAL 60 Hz to try to resolve the dreaded Xbox 360 green screen. Make sure that your TV set actually supports this option because there are old models that are incapable of doing so. You might want to check the TVs user manual for this or you can ask the manufacturer directly. For high-definition TVs, make sure that the AV connector is set to HDTV after you've configured your system for PAL-60.
