In this movie, Robert de Niro plays the role of a widower. Every Christmas is reunion time for the widower and his grown-up children, a tradition that has been followed over the years. But this time, the children suddenly altogether canceled their plans to come home, which surprises the father. What's even more thought-provoking was that they nevered mentioned a reason for not doing so, while leaving their messages on their dad's phone answering machine. Feeling lonely since loosing his wife, The father decides to take a journey to make an impromptu visit to each of his children.

He soon finds out that the lives they're living are not as perfect after all.
