When a Russian defects to the US, he makes a shocking relevation to CIA officer Evelyn Salt: that a plot to kill the president will soon happen, and will be taken out by a Russian spy. That spy, as he claims, is named Evelyn Salt, the one he is talking to. After that, Salt makes a run for it and eludes capture with her many years of experience and skills. While she tries to prove her innocence and of being framed up, doubts lingers high on her real motive.
