Will, a returning injured war hero, finds himself landing a tough task: being assigned to the Casualty Notification Division, which is in charge of informing relatives of soldiers killed in action. He finds an unlikely partner in Tony, a long-time veteran in the division. Tony was tasked to teach Tony everything there is to know in the division, including the do's and don'ts. Together they are able to perform their jobs well, until Will stumbles on a widowed woman and develops a romantic relationship with her.
