Now that The Dark Knight has the biggest opening weekend ever ($155.4 million), it's safe to say a lot of people have seen it. Not only does TDK hold the record for biggest weekend, but also the number of theaters the movie was shown in (4,366) and now it holds another - possibly even more prestigious, the highest rated movie of all time on the imdb.
As any movie nerd will tell you, this is a HUGE honor. Just take a look at the top 10 to see what other films TDK has now surpassed in the rankings.
| 1. | 9.5 | The Dark Knight (2008) | 69,135 |
| 2. | 9.1 | The Godfather (1972) | 289,984 |
| 3. | 9.1 | The Shawshank Redemption (1994) | 341,140 |
| 4. | 9.0 | The Godfather: Part II (1974) | 166,099 |
| 5. | 8.9 | Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il (1966) | 97,289 |
| 6. | 8.9 | Pulp Fiction (1994) | 292,889 |
| 7. | 8.8 | Schindler's List (1993) | 195,033 |
| 8. | 8.8 | One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) | 147,475 |
| 9. | 8.8 | Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) | 205,729 |
| 10. | 8.8 | Casablanca (1942) | 126,357 |
What's amazing is that 12 Angry Men has been knocked from the top 10. An impressive feat. Now, its entirely possible that TDK's ranking may fall as more votes are entered, but I doubt it. So, 3 short days and The Dark Knight is the most loved movie of all time...
