The folks over at EmpireOnline had a chance to sit down with director Terry Gilliam and talk about some of his projects including the The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, his take on Cervantes' novel Don Quixote. A film he once attempted to make but was immediately plagued with an improbable series of disasters which was the subject of the brilliant documentary Lost in La Mancha.
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, starring Johnny Depp as a man who accidentally goes back in time and is mistaken for Quixote's sidekick Sancho Panza is apparently still in the works.
"[Producer] Jeremy Thomas is very close to getting all the pieces of paper signed from all the people who you gotta get signed," Gilliam told us. "He?s been on it for a year now, and he?s come the closest to getting it untangled from the legal swamp it was in. And, um, I don?t see why, I don?t see anythying that?s gonna stop it now. He?s just gotta get all the paperwork done and then I call Mr Depp and see which pirate film he?s still on".
Unfortunately, Jean Rochefort will not be back on the project as his "His arse is broken" rendering him physically unable to work.

I am quite the fan of Terry Gilliam having loved the films Brazil, 12 Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and even though I was totally creeped out, I still think Tideland was a good movie.
