Wow, two for the price of one! In lieu of the DVD release of David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises (out December 23, which doesn't exactly tie in well with your Christmas shopping. But hey, 48 hours is 48 hours I guess) NPR's Fresh Air program re-ran an interview with BOTH Cronenberg and star Viggo Mortensen today. It first ran back on September 13, just before the film opened in wide release.
I love that Hollywood artist-types like Cronenberg and Viggo respect Fresh Air so much, they'll give Terry Gross more than 20 minutes of their time in the thick of hyping a new project. You can bet Extra didn't get more than 5 minutes with either one of these guys back in September, let alone both of them (not that they'd know what to do with that much time anyway.) And, they talk about cool stuff, like Mortensen's amazing ability with languages and accents.
Listen to the interview
Or, if you'd prefer, just look at Mortensen smooching Cronenberg on the lips. A picture speaks a thousand words!
