Fives minutes of the upcoming Cloverfield, a film about a giant monster or aliens or terrorism or a 50-foot woman or [insert two-bit theory here], has hit the internet, showcasing a Blair Witch-style approach to suspense storytelling. I'll admit it: I'm digging this. Watch the clip and see what you think.

Cloverfield is directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote and directed The Pallbearer. Go figure. The film is written by Drew goddard, whose TV credits include Lost, Alias, and Buffy. Cloverfield is due out Jan. 18.
