Dragonball Z Live-Action Geekflick a Go!

Attention geeks: A live-action film based on the popular anime series Dragonball Z is finally moving forward, reports THR. James Wong will direct Justin Chatwin and James Marsters in the sci-fi adventure, set to hit theaters worldwide at the end of summer 2008.

Wong, who wrote the most recent draft of Dragonball Z, is the writer-director responsible for Final Destination and Final Destination 3.

Chatwin, who will play the hero, is best known for TV guest appearances and as the son of Tom Cruise's character in the 2005 War of the Worlds. He also played Teenage Fan in Josie and the Pussycats in 2001. Yeah, that guy.

Marsters, who will play the villain, was Spike on TV's Buffy and Angel.

Target release date is Aug. 18, 2008.

It doesn't make sense to me that Piccollo would be the villain, I understand that we was once evil but became good when Ratitz showed. It seems like Goku is decently young in this movie, but when he and Piccollo were rivals they were younger.

its very odd that they would start out this early  to begin such a huge anime line..this kinda excites me to know they might be starting out from the begining but also for us who has seen all the episodes we were kinda hopping that new material would come out of a live action. but who knows, this might just turn out to be like watching it all over again lol.

The story is set back when Goku was facing KING Piccolo so it makes sense, it's a bummer they chose this time frame to shoot the movie though because it'd be cool to see how they pull off a super saiyan

It is set durring Dragonball not Dragonball Z.

OMG! i just haxx teh directors computer and got hold of teh dragonball movie script!!!!

Here it is:

1st Guy: I am the most power guy in the world!

2nd Guy: No! I am the most powerful guy in the whole universe!

1st Guy: Your powers are dwarfed by mine as I am the most powerful one! AH HA HA HA!

2nd Guy: My powers make yours look tiny...

-This gones one for an hour and a half-

1st Guy: I will show you how powerful I am by fighting you! KAMIKAMIKAA!!!

-He shoot lasers out of his hands-

2nd Guy: Ha! That was nothing, try this! AHDUKEN!!!

-He shoots lasers out of his hands-

1st Guy: That hurt a bit but I can still fight! SONIC BOOM!

-He shoots lasers out of his hands-

2nd Guy: I laugh at your feeble attempts to harm me. HA!

-He shoot lasers out of his hands-

1st Guy: I am losing so I must do something drastic.

-He turns yellow and his hair goes EVEN MORE SPIKEY!!!

On Looker #1: Oh my God!!! He's gone Mega Super Duper Sayent!!!!

On Looker #2: That's not possible!!!!!

1st Guy: Now I will beat you!

-He shoots lasers out of his hands-

2nd Guy: Noooooooo!!!

-2nd Guy is vapourised-

1st Guy: I win! I am great!

-Crowd cheers-

On Looker #1: What is that up there?

-Another guy flys down to them-

3rd Guy: I am the most powerful guy in the world, no one can beat me ha ha ha"

1st Guy: No! I am the most powerful guy...

-This repeats till movie is over-

Yeah, it doesnt make sense.  If you really follow DB. Kami wanted to rid himself of all evil so he split into two creating King Piccollo.  Goku fought that version of Piccollo when he was a small boy and beat him.  Just before King Piccollo died he spit out an egg that is the Piccollo that is in DBZ.  Actually Piccollo is younger than Goku.  How will they manage to pull that off for die hard fans like myself?

no there was a major rivalry between goku and piccolo at the end of the series "Dragon Ball" but then it went to "Dragon Ball Z" where Goku is an adult
