Director Tim Story (FF, Taxi, Barber Shop) will be the first director to handle The Surfer. ?That bastard shouldn't be allowed anywhere near The Surfer.

"and the Silver Surfer appears as a villain/hero." --
I'm guessing he starts off as a "villain" then realizes his error in judgement and switches sides. Also, they absolutely have to get the Silver Surfers skin right! This will either make or break the movie. Get the best CGI artists .

First they need to get rid of that super hack, music video director and get someone who actually has an affinity for the source material. Hell, just get someone with a decent track record if nothing else. Next, get a new cast and make sure they have the ability to, I don't know... act? Next, throw a decent sized budget at it so they can afford to have more than a couple of super lame set pieces. Finally do something crazy like set it in the 60's and have them all wear retro costumes.
Tim Story...PLEASE NO!!!

Come on with this Tim Story guy. It's ironic that his last name is Story, and the best job he can do at telling one is Barbershop??? Stan Lee, Avi Arad, and whoever else is involved, please don't let this guy butcher the Fantastic four any further...especially if the Silver Surfer is gonna be in it. He is one of the most loved characters in the Marvel Universe. If the Surfer is ever gonna appear on screen, it should be in his own feature film, in the hands of the Wachowski Bros., Sam Raimi, or Brian Singer. And please, no more David Goyer.

Probably, as in the comics, the Surfer originally worked for Galactus, but when it came to his boss draining Earth of all life, he switches sides.
