Gifted funnyman and lovable boner Don Knotts has died. ?He started out as the Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," made his way through a series of Disney flicks (Apple Dumpling Gang, Private Eyes) with his pal Tim Conway, then ended up on Three's Company in the eighties. ?He was one of the great oldies but goodies. ?Also over the weekend, veteran actor Davin McGavin died. ?McGavin is probably best known for his role as the frustrated dad in "A Christmas Story." ?Click on for more.

No one lasts forever. Knotts could be fun, but as trapped in TVland Hell. I think his whole life was lived in Black and white. But kudos for getting himself into any series with a mug like that.
McGavin was a product of the ultimate B grade TV system, if it can be said there is such a system. These are largely forgettable series or performances which in turn, will make McGavin a lasting memory for about 3 minutes, 12 minutes short of his allotted 15 minutes of fame.

The voice of that teacher from 'Doug' will be sorely missed.

I'm surprised the article says McGavin is most remembered for that Christmas movie. He is clearly and undoubtedly best known for his role on Night Stalker.
