KING KONG's Box Office Landing Is Soft-ish!?

Yep.  Soft-ish.  Only in Hollywood (only in America) can a $50 million dollar opening weekend be described as soft or an underperformance. But then again, Kong cost $200 million to make.  Could Kong be in trouble of not making it's money back?  No.  The Family Stone, Syriana, Walk the Line, and Brokeback Mountain performed well.  Click over for the numbers.

1. "King Kong," $50.15 million.
2. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," $31.2 million.
3. "The Family Stone," $12.7 million.
4. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," $5.9 million.

6. "Walk the Line," $3.6 million.
7. "Yours, Mine & Ours," $3.4 million.
8. "Brokeback Mountain," $2.4 million.
9. "Just Friends," $1.95 million.
