MacWEEK has an interesting article about the future of computing, All speculation of course, but interesting nonetheless.?In this universe, the computers will be completely configurable -- and the idea of an operating system may evolve into an operating environment, customized to behave as you want it to.?Everyone will build their own ways of working and tools (perhaps starting from a bunch of generic starting points, such as Mac OS XXIV or Windows 2045).?Over the course of your life, you'll add in enough custom tools and variants that your "environment" will be unique to you.?The computer (as we know it) won't matter any more -- your virtual computer will be the storage, and the physical hardware will just be where you are running that virtual machine at any given time.
