From what I've seen of Arrested Development, I don't understand why anyone would think it's funny, much less the funniest show on television. What television people try to pass off as "funny" generally is not. This is why I am weening myself off TV, which I have wasted too much of my life with.

obviously you have no perception of what is in fact "funny". arrested development is clearly the best put together comedy series anyone has seen in the past decade. anyone who can't see that is clearly not worthy of viewing it anyways.

I partially agree with you, not much on TV is that funny these days. But I wouldn't say that about Arrested Development. I think it was one of the most clever comedies on TV in a long, long time. From those that I know in the industry, most people in the industry found Arrested Development extremely funny. But I don't think the general masses would be crazy for it, because most people don't share that type of intellectual humor. When I worked in TV, we were always told to "dumb it down." (One of the reasons I don't do it anymore.) Should make you as a viewer somewhat angry that they're assuming your not very smart, but allow me to get back to the point. That being said, I'm sure there have been a few exceptions because AD has been doomed from the start (despite the multiple Emmy nods), more than likely from some industry exec somewhere who wished he had thought of it first. After Fox calmed their viewers down earlier in the year by the big announcement that AD wasn't going to get cancelled...then they move it to a new day & time? That type of behavior is almost always a show killer. (Very rarely does a show work once it's moved. It can happen, but not often.) So my guess is it was killed by either an inside Fox exec or from a grumpy producer of the show. Death by Industry Politics would be my first guess, although we may never know. Ratings might have been down, but that's generally what happens when you move a show around "looking" for an audience. You have to give it some time to grow once it's been moved. If the rumor is true that Fox never ordered a full 3rd Season anyway...Another Hhhhmmm. If Fox plays the Ratings card, I would also suggest you folks to get upset with Nielsen Media. Because the very few people that I know that have been selected to be Nielsen Families generally seem to watch shows that didn't match what my office used to get as Nielsen ratings info. Another Hhhhmmmm.... Something to think about.

I gave up TV when i went to college because most TV shows are garbage. But along came Arrested Development which told joke that weren't insulting to the audiences intelligences. AD required a brain to enjoy and most people don't meet the requirements.

Geez, what a bummer. I could really see this show doing well on HBO, alongside "Curb Your Enthusiasm." It's really unfortunate that Fox was lucky enough get this bad boy in its lineup. I think that any other network would have easily nourished it into the next Seinfeld. Oh well, no more fox until 24, cuz I'm sure as hell not going to watch crap like "Stacked," or "Trading Spouses."

Arrested Development is probably the smartest show I've seen on television. Narration, plot, comedy, character development is so perfect. If you don't see anything funny in this show, I feel sorry for you and your inferior intellect.
