Review: SAW II Better than the Original?!

Saw II reviewA tipster has written in to Ain't it Cool News with an early review of "Saw II." The reviewer compares the film to the original, saying, "Saw II is a much superior film to the first outing."

He goes on to conclude:

So while Saw II isn't reinventing the wheel of horror flicks, it's still one of the better entries I've seen all year. So if you liked the first Saw, it's a definte must-see...but if you didn't dig the style and execution, this sequel won't make you a fan either.

Sounds like writer Leigh Whannel has focused the sequel more on all the great things about the original and has left out some of the things that didn't work as well. We shall see. "Saw II" hits theaters October 28.

It wouldn't take much, that first one was all atmosphere and gadgets. I mean I like that stuff, but the story I didn't get. Why did the guy in the hospital want to hurt those people?? And if he was just crazy, why not show him being crazy, instead of just being a dick?

You really need to see that movie again! It was explained why the guy in the hospital wanted to do it. The point of not showing him as a crazy person makes the movie even scarier and more effective because it shows that anyone you know can be a killer. Most serial killers are in fact much more like the guy next door than you think. i.e. BTK Also, that was the point, he wasn't acting 'crazy' and killing those people. He set them up so they killed themselves. These effects are what made the movie so interesting and creepy!
