In an interview with SCI FI Wire, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead revealed that he and his company were discussing a film version of the popular video game "Quake" even before the whole Doom debacle. With "Doom" set to hit theaters later this month, Hollenshead says that he is still interested in pursuing a feature film version of "Quake," regardless of whether "Doom" is ?successful.
"It won't make much difference to us, we see everything independently," Hollenshead told SCI FI Wire.
"The challenge for Quake is what to draw from for the movie," Hollenshead said. "Quake 2 and 3 are very different, and Quake 4 is kind of a prequel to 2. So for a movie, we will probably draw from the Quake 2 and Quake 4 universe?an alien race from another planet that has attacked the Earth. That sort of thing."

Yeah. You're right about the *live action rocket jump* ... We gotta keep movies like this with total REALITY. With REAL earth physics and stuff. We can't have all this imaginary stuff on the movie screen. Oh.. can't use the STROGG either... that stuff doesn't exist in real life. wait a minute...maybe it is possible with a little thing called SCI-FI!!!

That would be the shit if they made a quake 4 movie.. a quake 3 movie would make no sense and would be very stupid.. But i would loooove to see a quake 4 movie.. i hope they do that

Hell no, are you kidding me. Based on Quake 3 Arena. It wont work. Here is the thing. All FPS games have a story, but they arent all amazing stories. A movie can give a chance to expans more on the story of the game. So, I can see Quake the movie based more on Quake 4, have a way better story, then the mindless MP action of Q3A.

The thing is, in Quake 3 arena you constantly die. In Quake 4, if you die, "You're dead", unless you restart from were you died. I dont want a movie were people just keep coming back to life, boring!

I think that they should follow the Quake 4 game. I have the game and it would be perfect for a movie. or they could put Quake 2 and Quake 4 together, because Quake 4 is t prequel to Quake 2.

Quake 4 is the only way this movie will get any success. THe human vs Strogg battle would makes for awesome viewing. Quake 3 on the otherhand doesnt even have a story so a movie is just stupid

Lets not do another Doom movie. That storyline really sucked! The only storyline that would even entice people to watch would be a Quake 4 plot. Since earth is not invaded as of yet, I would set the angle on an earth deep space mission gone awry. The mere fact that Stroggos is not yet charted would make a surprising start for a human expedition to become the first to discover it and in turn expose earth to invasion! Then we can have all the boom-boom bang-bang shootem up on the tail end of the movie!

"Quake Wars Enemy Territory" is the only way to go as a movie concept is concerned. I don't want to see people crawling around a ship in the dark! How about you? I hope that any director that picks this up will make sure the storyline is well adapted! Hmm, maybe Ridley Scott or Steven Spielgerg, or both! I know, we could have Russell Crowe battling cybernetic dinosaurs!!!

I think Quake 4 would work well because the story is upp to date. i can agree that it shouldent be to dark trough the whole movie. I would just love to see the journey in the medical facilities when matthew cane becomes strogg. i also love all the gory detailes that exists in the game and to put that with an realistic story that follow the basic ideas of quake 4 would make an asome movie. it would be something like alien and starship troopers only much better directed than starship offcourse. the creepy feeling of alien and the big war between the alien race and humans in an giger inspierd surrounding! the doom movie "t has now been released" i hope it wont be to dark and i hope those who make it will show us more bright shots of the creapy monsters that ar hanging around and that a good story could carry the movie better than really famous actors and very very expensive special effects. i know that the special effect ara great deal of the movie but in doom they werent worth that much because of the crappy story!!!! am i right? i would realy like to see quake 4 become film but only if the story is realy good. Doom felt like someone was really horny on getting the movie done, not caring about wether it would be good or not!!!! greatings from sweden!

The story should be based on Quake 3. It's the only original storyline from the game series. And it would have to be strictly monitered because Hollywood butchered what Doom should have been.
