MI6.com is reporting that Pierce Brosnan, who has played 007 in the last three Bond movies, may be stepping back into the role, even though he was not supposed to reprise the role. Since that announcement, rumors have been flung far and wide regarding who would replace him. According to the latest report, producers have become so fed up with the search, they've decided that Brosnan may be the best choice after all.
Originally there were rumors that he was holding out for a ridiculously large amount of money, but Brosnan denies that. He recently told GQ magazine that the raise he was looking for was more in the neighborhood of $500,000--from $16.5 million to $17 million, not $35 million, like some reports said.
Even still, there is nothing definitive in Brosnan's words. Maybe he's just happy that the producers are having a difficult time replacing him.
The next James Bond movie, "Casino Royale," is due out October 2006. They better figure out how many zeroes they're willing to pony up for a believable Bond sometime soon.
