Broken Lizard, the five-man comedy team behind "Super Troopers," "Club Dread" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" has signed a three-year deal with Warner Bros. Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The deal would give WB first-look rights to comedies developed by Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. In addition, the five would direct and star in their films, the article said.
What the article didn't say was that it is a good thing they'll be making more films like "Super Troopers" and less films like "The Dukes of Hazzard." Way less, I hope. Like -1 less.
But in addition to the lower-budget Broken Lizard Productions that will star the five, they will also be developing comedies with bigger budgets, for "established actors," the article said.
