I've got no problem with the new raised up sheild, it's just that it still looks kinda small to me. Plus, I don't care what version of the costume you look at, I've never seen it burgueny instead of red and I've never seen the neckline that high.

Yeah, I've got no problem with Brandon Routh, from what I've seen he looks perfect and I can't tell you how pissed off I'd have been if they'd cast that 'Dawson's Creek' wannabe Tom Welling. The onlt thing I'm not completely sold on is the costume but I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Lets see how a high neckline, small S, burgundy color, shoulders look fake, clark not enough pumped and the fact that 'staying glued to the comic is the best way' is going to affect the movie itself and the possible never as good as the first one rule being enforced once again.

We got your joke about Britney Spears the first time. Its been worn out. The Reeve neckline was almost too low for me, I thought they made it look like they wanted to show a little cleavage. Routh should be excellent, especially in the scenes with Lois. he was in soap operas, they know wild romance.

I sure hope this new lad truly brings it in this film. He is now the steward of an iconic figure. He is also replacing a man who became an icon playing an icon. Christopher Reeve was Superman. I watched all of the different Superman incarnations, from Kirk Alan to George Reeve to the man who made Superman real, Christopher Reeve. I hope Mr. Singer isnt just making a film about Superman just to do it. He also is partly a steward to an icon. Im hoping is youth will allow him to be of the mind where he is concious of all of the different Supermen. And know how much of the man Chriss Reeve was. And through this film continues to make Superman real instead of just a comic character. I sure hope the film does the legacy of Cristopher Reeve justice, as well as the Man of Steel!!

Tom Welling could not hold a candle to Christopher Reeve. Christopher Reeve IS Superman, just like Tobey Maguire is Spider-Man and Christian Bale is Batman. Besides, Welling plays young Clark Kent, not Superman. If he donned the suit he'd look like a teenage Clark as Superboy.

Anyone who loved the old Chris Reeve films is not going to fall instantly for this new version. It's a sentimental thing. But lets be honest, those films did not completely milk everything that can be done with the Superman story. The flying scenes, for one, are very dated. And we've really only got Superman & Superman 2, the rest were god-awful (thank-god they didn't let Chris Rock do Jimmy Olsen - did they not see Superman 3 with Richard Pryor???). This new film may not win the Oscar for Best Picture, but who cares? Superman is the original superhero and he is the best. With all these mediocre "superheros" (Daredevil, Elektra, The Punisher, Hellboy etc.) it is well and truly time for Superman to return. All we need now is for Wonder Woman to hit the big screen...... Keri Russell, anyone?
By the bi, there 'aint nothing wrong with Routh not being Buff enough. He's naturally super-strong. He doesn't work out, he get's his strength from the sun. There is no reason for Superman to have bulging muscles - you get it?
(P.S. Chris Reeve was a great actor, but I think Brandon Routh is a cuter Superman).

At least Superman is returning on the big screen. I hear that this is going to be a follow up to Superman IV. It's great that they are making a Superman V but I don't like Kevin Spacey being Lex Luther he looks weird. Gene Hackman was a better Lex Luther but still Superman V is going to rock.

I felt compelled to say something here, for those who had seen Smallville, you would know Chris Reeve was involved in it. If he had such objections he would not allow himself to get involved in this project. So his involvement is any indication, I think he would have accepted Tom Welling to be the next Last Son of Krypon... however I do not see any bad points about current superman, Bradon Routh, we are too early to judge, perhaps? I'll be frank when I first heard that they were going to alter the Supe's customer... I was like "jesus, what the hell they're thinking?" but then someone said that each man is their own superman.. what I am trying to say is that there is ONE Superman,different actors, if Bradon Routh wears the outfit that Chris Reeve wore.. then he is trying to be Reeve's impression of superman, not his own. Hope I made any sense?!

I think the costume is not good!!! Apart form the bad neckline, his cape and all the red parts of the costume are too dark! Also, I believe the most important thing about his outfit, was to look more muscular, in the way Flash's did in the TV. series or Spiderman's in the 2 films. You know, with darker parts (shades) in parts of the body that would emphasize the muscles. I really believe his costume is a disaster!!!!! I'm amazed the filmmakers actually approved it!!

Personally, I think Tom welling is more tha qualified to play the part of Clark Kent and Superman, its a shame he wasn't cast for the spot. Tom Welling has matched or even exceeded in the length of time he has played the part of our Man of Steel, and that in itself is good enough for me. I don't however deny that The "pretty" boy, does fill the role to some degree, and his voice is pretty close.

Christopher Reave IS Superman. But he WANTED the torch to be passed down to Tom Welling. He WANTED it to. Rouge is crap! Smallville rocks (SMALLVILLE, not Dawson's Creek) and Tom Welling would kick Rouge's sorry arse any day of the week. As for the costume, yes, it's crap. However, if it was the same costume the Reeve wore, then it would look like Rouge was trying to BE Reeve. The original costume is REEVE'S!!! Even though the current costume sucks, at least it's not Reeve's.

I remember Warners Bros wanting Tom Welling to be the next Superman, but they understood Tom's Smallville committment and have no desires to take him away from it - Bryan Singer impatiently wanted to make a Superman, so... Well at least its not someone like Arien Brody or James Cavaziel!!
Its out of our hands now, the film production is almost completed, according to my sources. We can only wait and hope for it to be great, after all, I feel honoured to have a superman film produced in my lifetime - I was not born when Reeve's films were released!!

I'm not interested in this movie at all, but i'm downloading the footage anyway. They chose a totally wrong actor to play the part. In my opinion, the REAL Superman is Alex Ross'. Whenever I see him, he radiates power and responsibility. Brandon Routh just..doesn't. They should've used the costume of Alex Ross', as well as cast a guy that looks like him.

choosing an unknown actor to play superman was a good move! i love tom welling to bits but he is "smallville" material. he is clark kent and would not transfer well to the big screen. I enjoy watching smallville. Welling would have been fine for the role of superman, but the setting of the movie would require him to look older; but does superman age im not sure. The costume looks a little cheesy but you will grow on it. I think the movie will be fine, and from an earlier post someone said they feel honored to have had a superman movie made during there time. I disagree because the enertainment industry is running of out of ideas and are either remaking movies or creating sequels or prequels to previous movies.

As a life-long Superman fan and also a huge fan of the Smallville series, I want to give the bottom line. Christopher Reeve was the greatest Superman to date. Better than George Reeves, better than Dean Cain, and better than any other man that has ever put on the costume. He made it real for a whole generation of viewers. But, it is a new generation. Were the costumes in the X-Men movies true to the comics? Hell no! Were they good movies? Hell yeah! I personally have no problem with Brandon Routh or the costume. It seems to fit him and he definitely fits the role well. I believe that you are doing the movie and Mr. Routh a disservice by constantly trying to compare him with Christopher Reeve, especially before the movie has even been shown on the big screen. By the way, Tom Welling would have also been an excellent choice as Superman. Different, than Reeve and Routh, but good nonetheless.

Tom Welling makes a good Clark Kent in the aspect that the Clark Kent character was a man hiding something and he had to give the impression of being shy and a bit of a loser in society. Tom Welling is incorporating that and the fact that he is also a boy growing up knowing he is different. The reason many people probably do not like Tom Welling as Superman is because he is NOT Superman, we cannot relate him to being Superman because he is still Clark Kent. The whole point of Smallville was to give a background of Clark Kent and the Origin of Superman. We cannot compare Tom Welling to Christopher Reeve because they are not playing the same role and because they are also in two different times. Another reason Tom Welling could not be Superman in the big movie is because if you put Tom Welling then you need all the characters from Smallville, every single one and if you didnt then the movie would bomb and then the show would go under. Starting from scratch with the superman is ultimately the best decision. Look how it worked with Batman Begins, they set the bar for future Batmans and cleared up all the annoying and stupid events in the last movies. That is how a comic book based movie should be. And I hope Superman can do the exact same. After all the comic book is where it all started.

OK everyone needs to chill. Tom Welling would make a great Superman in few years when he is older and more expierienced. Christopher Reeve was a awsome Superman. Brandon Routh does look kind of whimpy but he does look like a ok Superman/Clark Kent. The costume is different but ok. Don't make fun of the movie because you haven't seen it yet and you do not know how Routh's performance as Superman is. I think everyone is there own Superman and that every actor who plays the Last Son of Krypton adds there own personal touch. I also think that if they put Tom Welling into a Superman movie that they should bring in the Smallville cast but they should wait to do that in a few years. I ersonally think Batman is way better than Superman and am looking forward to the possible sequel to Batman Begins a lot more than this movie.

First off Tom Welling is older then Routh, so for all you nitwits out there saying he would not fill out the suit, get real!!! I am totally not against Routh he is a fine and handsome person but not fit for Superman..... Plus I agree the movie was busted due to the week story and plot.... plus there are many flaws like... Superman who is vunerable to Kryptonite should've been fallen down when entered that Luthor's Kryptonite Island rather than landing properply and finding it out later that he is powerless when Luthor hits him.... Plus how can Supermsn lift that Kryptonite island as we all know and have seen in the old Superman and in Smallville that how vunerable he is to Kryptonite that he can't even move or stand in front of it.... How come Lois Lane's child possesed Super powers cause when Superman and Loius had sex in Superman-II ; Superman gave up all his powers to get her..... though it was temperory change but at that moment Superman was powerless..... And most of all the the mom doesn't know who's child was Jason until be pushed the piano away was a total crap.... And I must say Superman Returns was Actually an altered Superman-I from Chris. Reeve era.
