In an interview with Now Playing magazine, Bryan Singer ("X-Men" films) talked candidly about his upcoming "Superman Returns," covering such topics as Superman the patriot, Superman the wash up and even Superman the homewrecker.
"It's just what happens when old boyfriends come back into your life. Something happens, and it's tough," he said regarding the controversial plotline where, after being gone for several years, Superman comes back to woo Lois Lane, who is now involved in a relationship with the father of her child. The two aren't married, so ...
"It's a child out of wedlock--I know, it's very racy," Singer said, apparently with his tongue firmly in his cheek. The article calls this a "modern twist," but I doubt anyone is really thinking about that aspect.
The important scene is clearly going to be the one where Lois's current boyfriend tries to get tough with her ex. Singer doesn't reveal whether this actually happens onscreen, but we can imagine and hope, no?
"Superman Returns" stars Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, Kal Penn and the voice of Marlon Brando. Look for it June 30, 2006.

Its so heavy the way hes keeping the same history from the originals, whilst making a modern approach to the characters.
