Steven Soderbergh has inked a deal with Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner's Co. 2929 Entertainment. ?The deal calls for six, high def video films from Soderbergh (produced and/or directed) that will be released on DVD, in theatres, and on the HDNet cable channel at the same time. ?Cuban and Wagner's company shares ownership of Landmark theatres and the HDNet cable channel.
The idea is to give the consumer more choice in how they view a film and is meant to combine marketing funds into one push instead of two or three. Soderbergh's indie, Bubble, will be the first film in the deal. Bubble was shot last month in West Virginia and has a cast made entirely of non-actors that were found in the town the film was shot in.
Here's Soderbergh's filmography from IMDB.
