Star Wars Visual Effects Supervisor John Knoll talked to Starwars.com about how he's designed the opening scrolls to the films. ?SEE THE NEW SCROLL and a few new pics thanks to Cinemaemcena.com.

That has to be the stupidest scroll I've read. "War!" . Never before has there been a "!" in the scroll for a Star Wars movie, and never should there be. This guy sucks at writing scrolls.

So what if the opening scroll sounds a bit lame? The opening scroll of all the Starwars films are over-the-top and cheesey, they were meant to be just like the old TV serials from the 50's. Why is it that everyone always seems to consider themselves better experts on Starwars than George Lucas?

Just look at all those old Flash Gordon serials and you'll see opening scrolls with dialogue just like this. It's written this way for a reason, the whole point of Star Wars is that it's meant to be campy fun not a completely serious thriller.
