Young actress Dakota Fanning ("The Cat in the Hat") is set to star in a live-action/CG remake of "Charlotte's Web," according to The Hollywood Reporter. ?The remake of the 1973 animated film will feature Fanning as a young girl who teams up with Charlotte the spider to save Wilbur the pig from becoming pork chops.
Based on a book by E.B. White, the original, animated, "Charlotte's Web" had a cast that was mostly made up of animals.
The new version, slated for a 2006 release, will be directed by Gary Winick ("13 Going on 30") and is written by Karey Kirkpatrick ("Chicken Run").
