Random Shemps are Essentually the same as slashdots Anonymous Bastard.. Loosers who don't want to sign up! Bastards... We probably would have called them "Anonymous Bastards" but for the fact that Slashdot has become so commercialized that they might actually make a trade mark on that.

Ok, I guess I get to defind myself here. I know that alot of people rag on stuff that I write becuase my spelling isn't the best and my grammer isn't up to par. Most of the stories I post are when i'm at my day job, which happens to be tech support. Taking that i'm on the phone while typing some of these stories up, I end up screwing up alot of things. I try my best to give you some brain food.

Well, I don't think it's so much about how much Ellis sux but about how he stacks up against Xix. Xix was a great webmaster and poster. Ellis tries hard, I'm sure, but just doesn't have the time or probably resources Xix did. I can remember the days when I would visit Geeknews almost as much as Slashdot because posts were high and they were all interesting. Now, we're lucky to get a couple of posts a day. Primarily they're interesting but often I've seen the same stuff on other sites. I realize this will always be a problem but it shouldn't be that bad of a problem. No hit on Ellis here but what Geeknews is a webmaster with time to look up interesting stories and post them. I mean, you don't have to fill the screen DAILY with new stuff but it could be more than it is. Geeknews could once again be a great site. Till that day, it'll remain on my "visit about once a week" list.

I think it is the responsiblity of the readers to contribute to the site and help whomever is in charge/postmaster. 

Every 2 bit weblog/newslog points out articles at the major news outlets and meta filters. The posts I like at slashdot/geeknews are usually random, theoretical, or bizarre curiosities. 

As readers of geeknews, it is our responsibility to submit content we deem worthy of sharing. Anyone can regurgitate slashdot/wired/zdnet/news.com/etc. 

Newslogs are a 2 way street people.

ok i check geeknews more than once a day .. i like it better than slashdot ..(sign me up sucsuc)
it not as fuckin eletist techincal ...so you dont have to know how to compile your own kernal to understand it . 
and hey the speelin is not all good but who cares!
yeah i noticed it hasnt been gettin updated as much ..well we all dont get paid to do this like the slashdotters.... so they gotta fit it in with day jobs.

XiX rocked the house... where did he go?? He was the driving force -going to other blogs owners and pulling in resources. Geeknews is fine and all - slashdot is a great site (with the exception of the Linux is the only os mentality), but with so many blogs.. I limit myself to these

It doesn't matter where you are, I consider geeknews.net to be a professional page, and I like to get others interested in it. But face it, no one wants to read poorly written stories. Incorrect grammer and spelling are just going to turn away vistors. I dont have anything against ellis, I just wish he woul run his stories through MS Word before he submits them. I use to be a poster for Geeknews too, and I submitted most of my stories from school. However I always made sure my spelling was correct, and if it did slip by, I corrected it ASAP.

is anyone else bothered by Geeknews' comment interface? Having to click on every single comment is a real pain in the ass. They need to implement something like /. or DT. Just my
2 cents. Other than that, I like the site. And HEY! This is Digital Theatre damnit!! Why is everyone talking about Geeknews!!

And since I'm complaining... I would like to see more 3D rendering and animation info here... :)

Slashdot Has become to commercial and they are also have the security of getting traffic so they now don't worry to much about being first to post news etc.. There has been many times that DT or GN Has posted a story that /. does not post till later that day or even week some times..

Heh, a con in Dallas would be sweet; I've got relatives there, so I could excuse the trip. But, er, seein' as how most of the geek sites are based in the Pacific Northwest (or Silicon Valley), and seein' as how most of the WonkoSlice fans are local, heh, I doubt there'd be much turnout.

Right now, everyone left at GN is extremely busy and doesn't have the time to update. I'm the only one that has time to upated it 2-3 times a day. Where I used to pull my news from - they have been really lacking in any good content.

Yea xix was great. How about the Prep kid. I really liked him too. From what i've read Prep and Xix have moved to work on http://www.mp3-2000.com and the shack network ( http://www.shack.dk). Kinda neat seeing these guys move on to bigger projects but i still miss them from geeknews.

Xix is now working on a project called Teoti. It follows the vein of G/N, but kix the ass off it! Look, I don't know what happened between xix and whoever, I don't care, but xix rocks, the teoti project he is working on, will be one of the biggest and best... come along, get involved.
