My friend Andrew and me think it looks okay. But not that great, they maybe should have stopped with just one. Sequels sometimes suck, but we'll see.

The first movie was soo good and really, really scarry! When i saw it i cried i was so afraid and to this day im still scarred of wells, water and tvs. But i think making a second one is a bad idea cuz if its not as good then itll ruin it for people who really loved the first one.

The Ring is one of the most aesthetically pleasing, frightening, and fear-releasing movies I have ever seen. The videotape itself is the film's ultimate turning point, and is quite possibly the very paragon of the kinds of things that cause our eyes to dilate and lips to tremble, and leave us speechless. How on earth could anyone say that the film does not qualify to be a real horror movie? If anyone can give an intelligent and logical reason, then good. If not, then you're just not paying attention as far as I'm concerned.

If you all liked the movies, you should read the book. Ring by Koji Suzuki. The book was way better than the movies, but I loved the movies too, but the book just made everything more understandable, plus is was way freakier because you actually have to imagine what is going on inside your head!

Ok i was into the whole movie until they began to show the tape, and the chair began to spin, and the ladder fell down. That crap was just funny to me, and I think that I have a lot of personality. Perhaps it was the way that the movie never told exactly what was wrong with Samara or how she became so evil. I truly hope that the next movie expands on the subject, because plainly to me the first one just sucked. I understand the concept fully and somehow it ust seems to continue to be gay.

I replied to someone before about The Grudge. I was so psyched about seeing it. I was told it would be scarier than The Ring. It's not even in the same league. I actually found it a bit comical. There were a few eerie moments(mostly in the last 1/2 hour of the movie). I wish I would have waited for it to come out on dvd. It was a huge disappointment for me. I am looking forward to The Ring 2. I'm a bit worried about its' success considering Samara's character was practically written out. I also think that no one can play Samara like Daveigh. Wow. How creepy was she in The Ring? I don't know if Kelly Stables can pull it off. We'll see. As far as some not considering The Ring as horror...I don't know abot that. Most people think of horror as machete wielding maniaches after a bunch of half naked overly sexed teenagers. I think The Ring was more of a horror movie than any slasher film. I'm 29 & have watched just about every horror movie from the late 70's on. So far The Ring is the only one that has gotten deep into my psyche & has scared me to death. Truth be known, I won't sit at home with the tv's off anymore. Heehee. Dumb as that may seem, The Ring has scared me like no other movie ever has!!! Sorry it's so long =0(

Scarier? The grudge was dissapointing at best... While both the Ring and the Grudge hit on many of the same horror elements (both remaid japanese/chinese horror films), the Ring has a much better plot and in therefore more beleivable (as much as a horror film can be). The grudge was more of a jumpy movie, but very predictable and with a somewhat open ending. Plus Samara is WAY more terrifying then the entity in the grudge.

Ok, so I have some comical questions concerning both the Ring and the Grudge.
1) What happens if you watch the "tape" more then once, shouldn't your "week" be extended?
2) What happens if you only watch half of the tape and don't finish it?
3) If the entity in the Grudge was crawling up ur legs...wouldn't you punch her and/or whip out something blunt and heavy?
4) Same question for Samara....why not kick her/punch her as she is coming out the tv...may not do much but at least you would be different then her other untold number of victums.
5) What happens if Samara comes out of the tv at one of Snoop Dawg's birthday parties...she would be getting quite a lot of lead per that visit?
6) If you watch the tape, why not simply live someplace with no tv's or electrical equipment near you?
Ok thats all for now, im sure some of these are easily answered through the commentary found on the Ring 1, but I thought they were worth asking.

did you watch the movie?!? it was funny... but i think that no matter if you turned it off, she'll still come thru.. remember?!? even if you watched half of it, she'll come after you. and if you live where there's no electricity or whatever, maybe she'll crawl out of the water!! LoL that would be better huh?!? hahahaaa
laters!!

Lol, ok so what if you simply tip your tv to face the floor...lol how is she gonna get through then? Yeah I watched it, I am just bored at work and had some funny what if questions to ask. Personally, I think if I watched the tape, I would gather about 50 or so people at my house on the night she is supposed to arrive....arm ourselves with high-powered rifles...remove all but one tv from the house...and wait :)

you better get rid of everything that has a reflective surface. She can come out of anything that has a reflective surface. Microwaves, ovens, dishwashers, mirrors, toasters... Even if you don't have a mirror or something like that, I'm sure someone around you would. She would find a way to get to you!!!

Are they kidding? The first one was more than enough! It was not scary or horrifing. It was dumb. I am speaking of the American version, by the way, and the original Japanese film was crap too.
How scared am I supposed to be? The entire duration of the movie I was thinking that that *stupid* woman should just let it go. And besides her constant stupidity her ex-boyfriend was retarded. He wasn't as dumb as she was but he was annoying as hell; I was laughing my ass off when he *finally* died. The kid was ok, but not good enough to save the pile of crap that I got to watch for free. I worked in a video rental store and it was my privledge to suggest this movie to all the stoners, social rejects, and basic idiots in the the community. They, of course, came back with huge smiles on their faces.
Dear Lord, please save us from bad filmmaking!

*Writes Hollywood on a piece of paper and flushes it down the toilet*
God, I hope they don't destroy the upcoming Silent Hill movie too.
Hollywood seems to do that a lot these days. Destroying franchises, I mean. Let's hope this passes silently into the abyss never spoken of again. The Hollywood execs need to starting leaving the Japanese alone. They have done nothing but disgrace them.

first of all, you are just a hyporcrite because if you actually did have a life you wouldnt have been inside, looking at the website and typing a response...the ring was awesome--it was a bit scary but i did find it hilarious with the video in it..i find scary movies to be funny, and this one is at the top of my list. i hope the ring two can be just as good! :)

I actually thought The Ring wasn't that scary after you really looked at the peoples faces after they died....it was kinda funny :)! I really liked it! Not as scary, but as a good theme. And even though they stole some parts from the ring, I thought The Grudge was scarier.

The first one really scared me. I not usually one to get scared when I watch a movie, but something about this one really got to me. It took me a couple of month to stop thinking about it daily. I would really love to see anything that you have about the Ring 2. Samara is very intriguing to me. I feel sorry for her, yet I am terrified of her.:) My e-mail is heather_duplantis@yahoo.com

for someone who said (they stole some parts from the ring)
what do you mean stolen some parts? could you be a lil specific?
the american version of the ring was adapted from the japanese version. and japanese director hideo nakata directed the american version because he doesnt want others to do it.
they used flashbacks from the ring. its a sequel.
and why do you think they made an american version of the ring? its because the americans liked the story, the theme, how they scare people, how unique the way they take peoples guts out, and so they paid hideo nakata a lot of money just for that movie..
(am i right or am i right mister nakata?)
