FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH!!!

As we reported in August, New Line is developing a sequel to "Freddy VS Jason" that might co-star everyone's favorite cult anti-hero, Ash from the "Evil Dead" movies. ?Now Creature Corner has an official interview with Jeff Katz, an executive at New Line, all about "Freddy VS Jason 2."

Bruce Campbell, who played Ash in the "Evil Dead" series, all but denied the rumors, even after Variety and the Hollywood Reporter claimed that New Line was in talks with Sam Raimi ("Spider-man," "Evil Dead") regarding the deal. ?Raimi owns the rights to the character of Ash. ?The Hollywood Reporter said that Campbell was the studio's first choice to play Ash in "Freddy VS Jason 2."

"I think she's a dead issue by now," Campbell said in an email about three weeks after the Hollywood Reporter article was published. ?He did not comment further.

But Creature Corner and Jeff Katz might disagree that the issue is dead. ?Katz said, "There?s nothing official on the 'Freddy Vs. Jason 2' front yet, but I wrote the treatment and we?re all very excited about it."

Katz, whose treatment for "Freddy VS Jason 2" includes Ash, went on to say that he isn't worried about Ash's commercial appeal. ?"It?s not about box office," he said, "It?s about delivering a story that will be better than the first and a story that makes sense given the continuity of the franchises."

Katz concluded by emphasizing that the production of "Freddy VS Jason 2" was being carefully planned. ?"We?re not rushing. Nobody around here wants to make 'Halloween: Resurrection.'"

There is still no word from Bruce Campbell or Sam Raimi regarding Ash's future with New Line Pictures, but it is clear that the cult fans and at least one New Line executive are pushing to get the picture made.

As a sane a loving fan of the Ash character I AM NOT PUSHING FOR THIS TO BE MADE. That is a terrible idea and the only people pushing for it are studio execs. Get your facts straight. I would like to see Ash on the screen again, but not at the expense of putting him in something that would undeniably turn out to be one of the biggest pieces of shit in recent years. Can you say Jason X? (a.k.a Jaons in space?) Are you people on a mission to destroy what we hold dear to us. You are destroying the Dynasties that took so long for you to build.

I would love to see Ash in the big screen again, in Evil Dead 4 if possible, but it seems like Raimi has no intention to make it. So, if the only way to see Ash is in the sequel of FvsJ... then so be it.

I think that with the proper story-line, Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash could work. It would be a rather difficult task, I personally wouldn't take it, but it may just work out. Who knows. I would keep a sequel to Freddy Vs. Jason with those two characters and not introduce any others. Ash would be a difficult guy to tie in with Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, but with certain ideas it may work out.
  Okay, what the people really want to see is Freddy and Jason duke it out and bring out an epic battle between the two. Ash should just be left out, even though he is one of the greatest characters made. I don't see Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash. I really don't. Give the people what they want.
   Whatever Sam Raimi's decision will be, I trust it. He wrote and directed three of the greatest movies I have seen and I trust him.

I think the concept for this movie is great. Freddy and Jason are both two classic horror villains and Ash well he is an awesome actor in 3 of the best films i have seen if they write a good script and dont go overboard with cheese then this movie will be another great hit

Omfg, people! This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen! First, what would be the point of throwing Michael into the mix..? He would serve no purpose at all in the movie. At least in Freddy vs. Jason, there was something there- Freddy manipulated Jason in Hell. Now, can anyone tell me how the f**k something like that would work with Michael..? And what about Ash? How would he fit into all of that? He wouldn't. It would just be a pointless, not to mention silly combination of everyone's favorite slasher characters running around killing off people. Not that killing off people is a bad idea for a movie, but something like that wouldn't even be worth seeing! It would just be silly to have something like that out there!

I recently read in an interview with Sam Raimi, that he's not willing to hand over the rights to the Ash character, somewhat of a disappointment but watch what these money-hungry film-makers will do next, they'll just find another pop culture icon to squeeze the last few pennies from.

I think that bringing Ash (Bruce Campbell) into a new movie is a great idea.  What I would really enjoy seeing is a sequal to the great flick, The Army of Darkness.  They left that movie open ended so I say they finish that one before they go and throw Ash into a 3 man deathmatch.  Everyone knows that The Evil Dead series was a great idea.  A 4th part to the series is certainly another great idea.  Better than Freddy v Jason II?  I believe it would make more sense, but for those who enjoy the senseless destruction and death, then go right ahead and begin production on the all out deathmatch.  Im all for either one.  I just want to see Ash in a new movie, he is seriously one of the coolest storyline characters out there, Bruce Campbell knows he enjoyed making those movies.

simply put. This could work. But it will never happen. Why? because Ash is a hero, Jason and Freddy are bad guys. That means Ash has to either kick ass and own both of them, or the film will get picketted and so on. But the lawyers funding each franchise will be like "FREDDY IS JESUS!" "NO DUMBASS JASON IS KING" "ASH PWNS JOO" so, simply put, the legal banter will keep this from ever being born.
