Michael Wilson's documentary, "Michael Moore Hates America," is set to make its premiere in Los Angeles on September 30th. ?Wilson has posted many thoughts on his official Web site regarding the film; in his latest he touches on the politics of premieres.
"It seems that opening a movie in LA is rather difficult when you have a title like 'Michael Moore Hates America,'" he said. ?Surely the quality of the movie has nothing to do with it. ?Wilson, though agreeable at first, has since failed to respond to dTheatre's requests for a screening copy of the film. ?Maybe it was the moonlighting as a Backstreet Boy impersonator comment.
"When Victor Elizalde called (he's a Sony Executive on leave to run for Congress... as a Republican) and said he'd like to do a fundraiser in conjuction with the film, I said 'Hell no.'" ?Wilson is a militant independent, it seems, and he won't be duped into being a political hand puppet for a partisan campaign in a state where he doesn't live. ?Or will he?
"But then I talked about it with some of the other folks on the team. They asked me what my commitment to the Big American Conversation was. They told me to open it up to Victor's opponent, the incumbent Democratic Congressman Henry Waxman. We've invited Congressman Waxman to the premiere, but have heard nothing. I hope he'll accept."
Wilson's team (the accountants, perhaps?) convinced him that it would be okay to hold a fundraiser, as long as he also invited the competition. ?Sort of like when you're going to have a huge party but you don't want to piss off your neighbors so you invite them, too.
Wilson continued, "Despite what I say, there are people out there who believe this is an indication that I am a Republican operative... a player in the vast, right-wing conspiracy." ?Well, when he puts it that way it does seem rather silly. ?On the other hand, naming his movie "Michael Moore Hates America" sounds like a move right out of the Bush/Cheney "dissenters-be-damned" play book, which may or may not be part of a "vast, right-wing conspiracy."
"Let the conspirators spin away... I know what's going on," he said, "and when you see the film, you'll know what's going on." ?If we see the film, Mr. Wilson. ?If.

A lot of people see things in a very black and white kind of way, For sure George Bush hads done a lot of thigs wrong not least with an overly aggressive foriegn policy yet one must also remember that peoplke such as Micheal Moore make huge amounts of money from there books and films etc sometimes at the expense of the truth, I found reading Stupid White Men followed by Micheal Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man every informative, basically Micheal Moore is highlighting some excellent points about the enviorement and the state of education in America but in contrast has completly manipulated the facts in Bowling for Colombine. For this reason I think it is very important for this film [Micheal Moore Hates America] to be given a chance simply to preserve Freedom of Speech.
The best movie would be one where a rebublican and a democrate made a film together giving both sides of the arguments.

Firstly in WW2 we were attacked by a country- namely Japan, so we at least felt justified about retaliating against them. You know I read all the rants and raves here as well as the few comments that were obviously thought out and articulated. I have to say that I find it rather ironic that the die-hard liberals try to paint the conservatives as maniacal evil people trying to silence the poor and down trodden. Then when any conservatives or simply open-minded people spek up in support of our president, it's the left wingers who start foaming at the mouth and screaming, trying to drown out the right wingers.
Here's an idea; let's try to actually gather the facts from all sources rather than just listening to the stories we want to hear. Michael Moore doesn't make documentaries. If you want to see a documentary, check out the History Channel or PBS. Michael Moore takes info and manipulates it to his own design in order to make a lot of money off of other people (the victims of Columbine and 9-11 as well as the troops in Iraq). Consider this: he had footage of alleged abuse in Iraq and didn't come forward with it until after his movie came out. What does that tell you?

I haven't been able to see this movie yet. However, I have been following developments on and off for a while. I have read some of the blogs, and I am stunned! Have any of you even explored to find out anything about Michael Wilson????? Have you been to his website? Have you read his journal? I see all of these comments calling him names and making judgements! Have you even read why he decided to make this documentary in the first place???!!!! It had nothing to do with "Fahrenheit."It started with "Bowling...". He has stated on his website that he has no political affiliation!!!
He just doesn't think that things that MM has shown in his movies are accurate, and he is right!!! MM claims all these people won't talk to him and tell the truth so he has to follow them around and find it. Howver, he would not even talk to Michael Wilson when he was just trying to find the truth----------------exactly like MM!!! Do some research people!!! Look around your world!!! For the most part I agree. Although Moore is by far my favorite of the three, he really dissapointed me with 9/11 because I felt it was misleading (though not TECHNICALLY inacurate)and I felt it hurt the cause more than help it (though this remains to be seen I suppose).
