I totally disagree with our government ruling what we see. Not that I'd like to see Janet's breast, no thanks, but I think it's wrong for them to ban such things.
Or they should fucking forget about the whole superbowl event, and not fine anyone.

Exactly, her pastie hid it all practically.
But people with TiVo could probably rewind it and see it more clearly.
The FCC and media will choose not to forget about this event malfunction, while the American public couldn't give a damn. Or atleast those that I know sure wish they'd get over it, and give Janet a break.

Why are you concerned about your 8 year old seeing the majority of a boob when you've got him or her watching football?
When somebody breaks a limb they play it back in slow-mo that's no better for your kid is it? How about them suggestive commercials?
If you're worried about your child's well being shouldn't you turn that television off completely and inspire your kid to get out and interact with people, create and learn?

They just want money. nothing really bothered them, we see superbowl problems like this ALL THE TIME. I think it's pathetic if anyone chooses to press charges against them. Emotional distress, bad for their childrens eyes, yeah right.
TV in general.

TV in general is heading down the tubes. If it makes a diffference to you, if you care, don't watch it. It's that simple. There's an off buton for a reason. Remember those things they taught you to read in school? Books? They still exist. Entertain yourself and yours in your own way, I'll take care of me and mine.

As a responsible parent I always monitor what my kids are watching but what am I supposed to do when something like this happens during the Superbowl? I think that stricter censorship laws should be brought in, not just to TV but movies and videogames aswell- half the games on the market at the moment should be banned, all these GTA's and Manhunts or whatever should not be being sold to children!

Video games don't do anything to encourage violence they may act as a way of outletting that violence but they won't cause it. Example If a child has severe problems at home that he feels he must hurt someone HOW he hurts someone may be inspired by the game or film bbut if it weren't there he would simply use a different method, or to put it another way how many million people play GTA across the globe? How many million Teenagers actually kill people?
Futher still lets look at other examples in Europe there are often football (soccer) hooligans causing trouble now many of these don't care about football they are often merely spoiling for a fight banning football would be a pointless move as they simply find another reason to fight.
Incidentally by banning games which depict often UNREALISTIC violence you should equally ban news which reports very real violence. The whole arguement is of course completly reactionary. The job of a responsible parent is not to wrap there child in a cotten wool existence where nothing bad ever happens but rather teach them the realities of life so they can gain the knowledge to make changes for the better.
Most of the time a child can distinguish between reality and fantasy, especially with violence (take cartoons.

When it comes to people blaming violent games for something that's happened it normally comes down to one of several things, 1) Having commited a serious crime the offender will be very willing saying how they are addicted to a certain game, thereby deflecting blame away from them and onto the game. 2) If, in the case of Columbine, the killers commit suicide many people will need to find a reason why they did what they did. If they find they played alot of violent games (Like most young people do) they will of course assume that must be the cause. Like Michael Moore said in his film, The two of them went bowling that morning so why not assume that's the cause? 3)It can be said that a person going on a killing spree and violent games ARE connected but not in the way most people think. In my mind there is absolutly NO way a normal sane person could play a game and be 'warped' by it to the extent that they go out and kill someone. However, if someone is a bit messed up to begin with, has some pretty sick thoughts floating around in their head then naturally they're going to be attracted to these kind of games. If anything, the temporary release they get from these games holds off their 'urge to kill.'

I absolutely LOVE games like GTA but I think if I had kids I probably wouldn't want them playing it. Not because they might go out and kill but just because I don't think kids should be seeing stuff that's full of swearing, sex, drug references and lots of violence.

Well excuse me mom, I'm 15 years old...since when was it irresponsible for my parents to let me play such videogames. Stressed, maybe suicidal children do things like that in school, but I wouldn't be so quick to blame video games. There's so much more to it all than GTA.
censorship is getting worse

i'm a 15 y.o. guy from usa. I have gta 3 and gta: vice city. I like the games very much, and like to play them. But I'm not a phyco killer.
If anything, the games like gta are a stress-reliever for me. School and homework are what get me angry, nobody likes homework. At school I'm not even allowed to where a shirt with words on it, not even the name of the school. I'm like wtf? and you can't bring a cd player or headfones to listen to music. And you have to wear a belt. if you haven't guessed it yet, i go to a christian/private school. Anyways, that was off on a tanget, so um back to the point....
I remember trying to get GTA 3 at bestbuy last year. Mom was "oh no, it's that evil game, you're going to kill somebody!" and the game had one of those "MUST BE 18 TO BUY" signs on it. I was like WTF? M means 17 and up(don't believe me, then go to http://www.esrb.org and see for yourself.), not 18. (Of course, it was no different, i was 15 so 17 or 18 was no difference.) Eventually i concinved her that gta was not much different that james bond or mission impossible. I've seen many rated R movies of the sort, but when it comes to video games of the same rating (pg=e,pg-13=T,R=M), video games are view under a completely different light.
When there's nudity, guns, and violence in a movie(like M.I.2), the movie is a great seller and everybody likes it and gets good ratings. But when a game has the same stuff, the game gets bad reviews from the media. And it is censored/banned (like with the gta games in australia)
Nudity is banned, which is shit. Censorship is getting worse and worse. I learned that in the ancient greek times, men were naked when playing sports. Of course, I don't want naked men, I'm not gay. The point is it's getting worse and worse. I'm betting that words like "darn," "crap," and "sex" will be banned within the next century or sooner. Besides, banning nudity won't do anything. As long as there's uncensored porn sites out there that don't check your age, I won't kill anyone.
Anyways, I wrote this post because I was angry when i heard gta:san andreas is going to be censored in australia, like the other gta games. Of course, real guys over there will buy the game off the internet from another country, like NZ, and import it into australia. Soon gta will be illegal like drugs over there and cops will be like "You're under arrest for possesion of a game with violence and bad words in it."
YO MEDIA CENSORS, why ban or censor games like gta:sa when you show u.s. prisoners in iraq get killed and tourtured on public television? The world is screwed up.
Don't even get me started with books being banned in schools. "No shakespear for you kids, why don't you just watch some more terrorism in iraq instead?" Soon all books will be banned for one reason or another, and nobody will know anything.
