In a recent Q&A Paul W.S. Anderson disclosed some information about the DVD of "Alien vs Predator," even though the film has been in theaters for only one week, according to Bloody Disgusting. ?Among the things that Anderson had to say about the recent movie was "All of the best scenes were cut." ?You don't say.
According to a tipster who was at the Q&A, "Anderson was obviously very annoyed at the way the film was released." ?Cut by the studio, the final film and its PG-13 rating changed Anderson's vision of an adult, crappy movie into a family-style, crappy movie. ?Because of that, there will be an R-rated Director's Cut when the DVD comes out. ?Apparently Anderson claimed that he thought he was making an R-rated movie until three weeks before the release.
Unfortunately, that may not be enough to please fans. ?Will seeing some human blood really turn this movie around? ?Does the Director's Cut leave out the hilariously ridiculous, unlikely pair/"buddy-cop" moments? ?Was it the studio's editing that gave screen time to unbelievable plot elements, like an alien using its partially severed tail as an acid slingshot? ?Does the Director's Cut give us credit as fans of either franchise?
I doubt it. ?But for those who are willing to give Anderson's movie a second chance, the DVD will include an entire subplot that was cut from the theatrical release version of the movie. ?It seems that Anderson is strongly suggesting that the subplot really completes the film, but was cut due to time constraints.
Hedging aside, Anderson does back up some of the more glaring plot deficiencies and, although his explanations don't make the movie better for me, at least he is standing by some of the stupid decisions he made. ?Read the full article below for more details.
When asked why he veered so far from the original stories, comic books, etc., Anderson said that he wanted to make the film his own. ?In that endeavor he was successful, I suppose. ?And since he has put so much effort into making the film his own, I say he can just have it.

Wait, he only just realized they were making it a PG-13 three weeks before the release? We all knew it was going to be PG-13 ever since it was green-lighted.

Hey dumbass, go check some of the earlier posts about AvP, ones that were posted when we first heard they were making this movie. You'll see everyone saying that the film was going to be PG-13. In future, try not to talk so much shit, it makes you look bad.

Just to clear some things up...directors dont make a movie to a specific rating usually. they're in charge of the films content and overall sucess. with that said, they make a movie, and then that movie is given a certain rating. yes certain things in this film were stupid beyond studios cutting things out at the very end so it would recieve a certain rating, but if anyone wants to bitch about any directors work...send me a link to any movie you've done that made 37 million opening weekend, and then i'll be more than happy to talk

I think it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that this movie would be targeted at 12-15 year old boys, hence everyone deduced that it would be rated PG-13.
