Superman CastWarner Bros is apparently sincere in their quest for a fresh face to fill the role of Superman, according to Moviehole. ?Along with their broad casting call, they have enlisted a group of unknown Aussie actors to test for the hottest leading role in the industry right now.

Conrad Coleby

Among those chosen to test are Conrad Coleby (TV's "All Saints"), despite his less-than-super physique and blonde hair. ?Producers are more interested in casting the right Clark Kent and then turning him into Superman later, according to the article. ?Coleby is an Australia native. ?Moviehole's source did not name any of the other Australian actors who were reading for the part, but she indicated that there are a few.

Brandon Routh

Another actor taking a meeting with director Bryan Singer is Brandon Routh (TV's "One Life to Live"), who was rumored to be in talks for the role back when McG was still the director.

The article also said that the big name actors who have been the subject of bales of rumors are out--specifically James Caviezel, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Brendan Fraser. ?Though it didn't single out all of the 17 trillion actors who have been talked about, it was implied that the fresh-face angle is the one that will stick. ?We'll see.

"Superman: Unbelievable" is set to begin filming in Australia later this year.

NO, NO, NO!!!
There's only one possibility for the new movie Superman and that's Tom Welling.
They've waited long enough to get this thing off the ground so what's the problem with waiting just a little while longer until Tom if free to do the movie!
Tom all the way. 'Anybody' else will be a major dissapointment.

I strongly agree with that comment. If the new superman comes to play, there may be a possibility that there will be complications on smallville's future plans. Even though I know the directors arent really reading our comments but I think that since they already have good lois lane and clark kent characters, they should use them as a cast in the movie. Tom looks alot like Christopher Reeve and Erica Durance looks like Margret kidder when she played lois lane. It will be ashame to spoil a good superman movie. Btw, why is it that alot of directors so obsessed on pushing out a new superman movie so fast for? It's not like we never seen superman movies before. Out of alot of superhero movies, Superman was one of the few that made it well for 4 contiuations. Smallville is something good right now. Unless they can find actors out there that will look alot like Christopher Reeve and Erica Durance. Then there is something you can work with. So far, Ive kept update with the new casts and how the directors been talking about how superman is going to be casted. Im sure they picked good actors, but it's not really convincing to have someone else portraying that role since for 3 years you seen smallville and you see who been running around saving the day. I know it sounds a little bit typecasting... but Ive been a superman fan for so long that I dont want to see the superman franchise get bad ratings. However, if they want suggestions on a superman movie they want to make now.... I think making "superman blue" will be nice. The superman with the electricity and how he became that way etc. That story line seems to be more future like so it doesnt seem like it will hurt the smallville series. And if they need superman to be in the blue tights, have Tom welling playing a part of it and then have the rest of the movie focusing on superman blue
