Michael Keaton ("Batman") will join Lindsay Lohan ("Mean Girls") in Disney's "Herbie: Fully Loaded" according to Variety, but the film's writers might be its brightest spot. ?Herbie is a car with a mind of his own, but don't let that fool you--this is no "Knight Rider."
The original Herbie appeared in "The Love Bug," which was released in 1968 and starred Buddy Hackett.
Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant of MTV's "The State" and Comedy Central's "Reno 911" wrote the script for "Herbie: Fully Loaded" and Angelina Robinson ("Chikula: Teenage Vampire") will direct. ?Lennon and Garant have been involved in some hit and miss projects--mostly hit--since "The State" was cancelled after two seasons on MTV (quite possibly the largest mistake MTV has ever made).
Keaton has been around the block but no one can say that he chooses only good roles ("Multiplicity"). ?Lohan is hot right now, but that teenie bopper set also likes N'Sync and "Punk'd," so they may not be the best judges (target demographics be damned!).
This time around Herbie is getting mixed up in NASCAR, so who knows what antics might ensue. ?The film is due out in 2005.

If they use the knew ones, Herbie will probably kill himself against a wall.
