Sharon Stone is suing producers over the cancellation of "Basic Instinct 2" in 2000. ?Her lawsuit claims that her contract was signed and that she is owed the $14 million that was agreed upon. ?The producers have a few complaints of their own, including her five-page list of demands, with addendum after addendum by her lawyer. ?The Smoking Gun got a hold of that list.
Additionally, the suit claims that Stone missed out on other projects while anticipating "Basic Instinct 2." ?Among those, "Mr. Deeds," which starred Winona Ryder instead.
MGM, Mario Kassar, and Andrew Vajna ("Terminator 3")--the producers for the failed sequel--point to Stone as the reason why the movie failed. Beside the "inflated perk list," Stone would not agree on a male co-star, saying "She doubted Benjamin Bratt was a competent actor." ?There was also an unresolved dispute regarding nude scenes.
Luckily our society has a justice system which can keep important issues like these from snowballing out of control.
