The fist publicity photo of Christian Bale as the new Batman hit the web last night. ?Brace yourself, they could have picked a better pic (he looks a little bloated), but who cares, this film has too many good things (cast, director, etc) going for it. ?Click on for the pic...
Please this is not the finished shot right???

The costume looks cheap and unfinished... it's a good excuse to say that BATMAN BEGINS...
What in God's name is WB/Nolan/costume department doing??? The reduced ears look good in the animated series and the comics... the bat-fanatic in me is trying really hard to swallow this costume. Even though the ears are dwarfed again in recent depictions, the emphasis is laid on batman's "white-eyes'" expressions and what has been cut is compensated by the more than exagerated torso while a constant play is conducted on the shadows to give the dark knight a freaking aura that sends the signal that yeah it's time to pee in your pants...Here comes the BATMAN!!! So, am I mistaken or is this new supposed costume a carbon copy or ridiculous take of the black and gray + yellow belt of the latest batman animated series? Oh sorry the bat insigna is gray as well but elevated... come on!!! Show some bloody respect...
WB's poor vision and investment skills is going to destroy all DC characters (most of which are too old and childishly written to suit today's audience) in the long run... It is inevitable!! Marvel is taking over and has more superheroes under its sleeve and has a clear vision of what its properties are and how they should be depicted.
WB's new Catwoman movie could work... but how can this property attract large audiences in the US- hopefully Halle Berry is sexy enough and makes an extraodinary screen performance to convince the ethnically conservative majority of fans in the US and perhaps lure a new audience!! WB has tossed SuperMan in an abyss where he will never find his way to the big screen. Noone can play the man of steel, for there are no director(s) out there yet + gutts for injecting reponsible and creative investment that can pull it off. Just like the weak and childish DC storylines for the character, they just don't know what to do with it. Open-mindedly, Smallville's like Dawson's Creek + X-files + old superboy comics + whatever nonsense and teen flicks're out there (stupidly weak storyline, no respect for the intial characters.. due to lack of investment there's unnecessary emphasis on character development for new characters to stretch the storyline).
To leave on a positive note... At least Bale's unrecognisable under the head piece or helmet or whatever the hell you can call that despicable creation that looks like a frozen 3D rendering of Alex Ross's grinned batmask morphed with some Dark Knight comics influence that has gone terribly wrong suggesting that Batman has had unlawful relationships with Gargoyles on rooftops(gosh at least do something about the neck guys.. it's just all bloated out.. is that a tumour?? - Every frame shwoing the batman should be done with respect - learn from Raimi - you could have considered the fabric and technology used for the spiderman costume).
I love the new cape fabric though.. it looks like it enables flight and declines all allegations of being protective in nature. It's the only asset that could pull it off or perhaps Bale's acting... but that's me being polite. I hope it didn't cost millions to make this costume, 'cause this is a definite rip-off. (Hint - the same blunder that happened with DD's costume is being repeated here...you thought people would learn...see the consequences of shirking History classes)

Man you got to get out more. Weak story lines comparedf to marvel, THERE COMIC BOOKS and don't give me all the bullshit about really getting into the characters and relating to their troubles... Batman Begins is a film the director does what he wants with in the bounds of the script to make it a good film despite where the film originally came from, look at clockwork orange the author said he prefered the film to his own book. My point.. don't get so hung up about what directors do to their source material.
Any way your wrong about Superman they have been thinking of doing a new film for some time now.

The film isn't out in America yet either, they're still filming it. I think they could have picked a better photo to show off the costume but from what I can see it looks pretty good. Much better than the fetish rubber crap from Batman and Robin.

i totally agree with the view of the costume, it looks like somebody peaced it together and it doesnt fit, i chalked it up to the creators invision of early batman and any mistakes that have been made are due to bruce wayne and his inexperience of making a costume. In any case, im a hardcore batman fan "hail to the greatest superhero" positively they got a good person to play batman and hopefully the storyline will be good, but anything is better than a blonde haired batman or a happy go lucky ER actor
Bruce Wayne fashion shock - not!

Personally, if the costume looks crap, then it's all the more realistic to the storyline. I think it's a bit dumb to expect Bruce Wayne to be a leading edge PVC/rubber clothes designer. From what I've seen from the photos so far, which isn't much other than what's on the WB site, it's by far the most realistic looking version of Batman so far. Good luck to it, and I'm looking forward to it's release in the UK.

ok, listen, this is about when bruce first became batman... do you think he had all that high tech shit already?? and i personally think it is retarted when batman is running and his ears start to flap back and forth on his head. Respect for the origional characters? they are fake, someone drew them on paper.. and for you information, regarding catwoman... the three origional actresses were a red head, a black girl, then a blond... the black girl coined the purring and is considered to be the best of the three... then you gave the role to michell phifer(sp?). just blowing the whole thing... and but the way, people are allowed to give their own take on things... they get paid millions of dollars to do that... so when you come out directing you own box office hit, then it is ok to bitch, until then, shut the fuck up.

I think that everyone needs to be more open minded to the new look that WB has chosen to take. What I definitely disagree with is that dispicable excuse for a vehicle. The batmobile in the first Batman movie with Keaton is so much better than that MONSTER TRUCK. I mean c'mon, he drove a car, not a freaking beast of nature that looks like it will rip through anything in its path. But hopefully it was pulled off well. I look forward to the movie being released, but at the same time I fear that once again the BATMAN image may be put to its demise once and for all!! Good Luck WB, you may need it.

I know Joel Schumacher is a queer, he had a fetish, don't bitch about the first Batman film, that, minus the gay sound track by Prince is good, btw, I thought Bruce Wayne was a billionaire not a millionaire.
