Is Another X-Files Movie in the Mill?

While promoting his comedic turn in the upcoming "Connie and Carla", Moviehole's Paul Fischer asked co-star David Duchovny whether the much-rumoured X-Files movie is likely to happen, and to everyone's surprise, he gave a resoundingly positive response. "It's definiely happening", the actor said. "Chris has a great idea for the new movie and I expect we'll be able to begin shooting in the next year or so."

Asked whether he expects Mulder to develop in the film, the actor said "I hope not. I was really fighting against that in the final years of the show and I think the whole point. I think we're going to be introducing a new character in the film which will allow us to cast a major star, male or female, who will want to be part of an exciting supernatural thriller. I think the new movie will appeal to both our core fans and a broad audience. I'm very excited about it."

bring back the x files series, it can live without mulder and scully. let reyes and dogget develop and please the army of x files fans

i am very happy to hear news of a new X-Files Movie.  I love the series and the first movie.  I am glad to see that mulder & Scully will return.  As for using Agent Reyes & Doggett.. i dont think they make great agents.  They did an okay job.  But X Files isnt X Files w/o Mulder & Scully.  And in the new movie hopefully we will see Mulder & Scully sorting out their romance.

hey i love MULDER AND SCULLY they rock my socks and if there not in it im probly not going to see it dogget and reyes were not real like it was like they did not even like the show they were all right but MULED AND SCULLY ther ROCK!!! and a little more romance could not heart like maybe some hugs but not too fare otherwise it would not be the same  but i real amd glad that there is going to be a second movie the first one was awsome but i would def want to see them in action again

YES ANOTHER X-FILES IM SO GLAD ABOUT THIS IM ONLY 13 AND STARTED WATCHING THE X-FILES 2 YEARS AGO AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. I LOVE TO JUST SIT ON MY BED AND WATCH IT FOR EVER BUT THE 2 NEW AGRENTS DID NOT ACTUALY PLEAS ME THEY WERE KEWL AND ALL BUT DOGGET WAS UPTIGHT AND REYES WAS JUST WIERD NO DOUT THEY OK BUT IF MULDER AND SCULLY ARE NOT IN THE MOVIE THEN THE MOVIE WILL SUCK CAUSE MULDER AND SCULLY ARE THE X-FILES I LOVE THEM AND SO I JUST HOPE THAT THE MOVIE COMES OUT SOON CAUSE I SO WANT TO SEE IT.....THANKZ YOU PRODUCER PPL U GUYZ ROCK FOR JUST MAKING THE X-FILES FOR 9 YEARS

As a true, long time X-Phile I have to say that the series would never survive sans Mulder and Scully. It obviously didn't survive with the lack of even one of them. As for the new movie, I can only hope (and HOPE) it is more reminiscent of seasons 1-6 and not those unbelievably torturous final seasons. As for their relationship, as much as I once, years ago, thought I was a shipper - I must reluctantly admit that the show was much better when the tension was there without the reality of a relationship. Hopefully CC will find his way through that mire, too.

i agree its just not x-files without them  although i still think that it would be nice to have reyes and dogget for at least part of the movie

The best part was the rapport between Fox and Dana and even Skinner.  Also many great actors came into the various episodes as well as many locations for filming.  So many funny sarcastic lines came from that Duo that nobody else could duplicate!

We never SAW their dead bodies. It is COMPLETELY possible for the Lone Gunmen to return. I miss them greatly. Outstanding characters! Jump the Shark indeed...

CC couldnt do that and make the movie any good..  Mulder and skully were good because of the actors.. Look what happend to the series when dogget and reyes came in.

I have watched every episode of the X-Files. When I was 8, I watched the first episode (in 1993, or was it '94?)and I was fascinated with it. So much mystery, but not on an epic scale, it was simple, and my simple mind could wrap around it. I want the new movie to be simple, but mysterious, just like the first season episodes.

if mulder and scully aren't in it the movie will be awful. there's no way that reyes and doggett can carry the movie alone. the last 3 seasons of the show were not the same when mulder left and they stepped in. the movie would be really good if it brought back some of the elements in the older episodes rather than make it like the last few seasons, which were not very good.

i've watched the x files since it started out.  i was a devoted fan and collected everything there was to be collected.  that movie better come out so i can sell it all on ebay.  no ones buying x files anything anymore.  its a dead market.  as for doggett and reyess, at first i didnt like them but i think they could do a pretty kick ass spin off.  if the lone guman did it, surely they can.  i think we need some kind of fix here till they decide to get the show on the road...literally.  anyone wanna buy some x files stuff? lol.  email me yo!  xenasculee@hotmail.com

Okay.  Second movie rocks.  Mulder and Scully rock.  Deep Throat and X and the Lone Gunman rocked, but they're dead.  SKINNER ROCKS BEYOND ALL BELIEF!!  Reyes and Dogget stink.  On with the second movie!

The only way a new X Files movie will work is if they attempt an prequel.With some of the best characters dead(CSM, Krychek,Lone Gunman etc) and also that Mulder & Scully are now an item anything else will not be up to standard.Doggett & Reyes should not be included.

I have been watching the show since 1993 when I was eight years old. I was an extremely devoted fan, and I tried to watch the eighth season, but it was like pulling teeth. I only watched the series finale and the ones Mulder was in. Mulder and Scully are a dynamic pair and Dogget was a lame replacement for mulder in effort to keep the show alive. I have heard he (unfortunately) will be in the movie. I don't see why CC dosn't understand he is ruining his fan base by doing that.

For the same reason that movie sequels and TV shows go bad, they shouldn't bring back the X-Files without the main characters. When they change the characters (or directors), the show loses it's innocence, so to speak. I'm worried about X-Men 3, Batman, Superman
...just won't be the same..
