According to industry paper Daily Variety, Jerry Bruckheimer is negotiating a seven-figure deal to acquire the feature film rights to the bestselling videogame Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Deal includes a script being penned by game creator Jordan Mechner and John August (screenwriter of Big Fish), who will executive produce.

I?m absolutely stunned to hear that the ?PRINCE OF PERSIA? is up for future film production. Its so cool??, I have played and completed the game. I cannot make false criticisms about the game, as it was great (I also believe that the game tried to maintain a 1st person movie style theme similar to that of the ?Matrix? and ?James-Bond? games).
HOWEVER, one minor issue, which it does lack, is FACT! In previous games it has portrayed the Persians as ?Arabs? and when playing the computer game I noticed Arabic inscriptions. Although Persia is neighbouring Arab countries, as does Turkey, Greece, Italy and Spain it is vital that the producers of the film should not make these errors, as they will face immense criticism.
The Aryan race migrated to the land of the Aryans (from North Europe) to where is now Persia (IRAN), from the north of Europe and were split into three significant tribes. One major large tribe was known as the ?Parthians? /PERSIANS that grew vastly, later with the ruling of Cyrus the Great, the first Emperor and ruler of the first Empire known in world history?.. Just to conclude and not to and cut a long story short, the Persians are INDO-EOROPEANs where as countries like IRAQ, SYRIA and SAUDI ARABIA are from the African (Arab) race.

I think it could be a successful Hollywood movie.
About the storyboard, well I'm not sure how it would turn out.
Michael Mechner, the programmer of the game Prince of Persia is writing the script.
most probably the theme of the story would be fictional and of course commercial and history, mythology and epic would either play very little part in it or would be totally excluded from the script.
POP Movie?! Wahoo!

Okay, first off- I love Prince of Persia, so I am very biased. I've played that game so many times I practically know it by heart. I can beat it in about 6 hours. And I'm a girl! Doesn't that say something? ^_^ But, I will exclude all that and give you my opinion as a writer- the storyline in that game, if it's not altered too much, will make a superb plotline for a movie. There was an excellent balance between plot flow and the Prince's character development (his little monologues), and the plot twists caught me by surprise every time (especially the end!). Besides, think of the stunts! And the comic relief! I died laughing whenever Farah and the Prince started fighting! And there will obviously be sex appeal, for members of both genders. This is Hollywood, after all. So long as the storyline isn't butchered beyond recognition, this movie should be great! I can't wait! See you in the theaters!

First of all, haha to yourself.Second of all, you need to study more. You might want to check the history books on ancient Persia (Iran). Big portion of Iranian tribes were Aryans and they moved from north to today's Iran due to extreme cold. I bet you might go nuts If you would realize that Indians are also Aryan descendents.

Oh my god! I'm just a girl, and I beat the game Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time! I'm obsessed with the prince and the whole story line. It kinda makes you want to live back in those days... Well anyway, it would be wrong to not make a Prince of Persia movie! They should cast Adam Garcia to play the prince! His accent and looks are identicle! They even have the same voice! I've listened to the game! Plus, Adam has previous experience with Jerry Bruckheimer! (Kangaroo Jack, Coyote Ugly) Well, you wouldn't want to upset a GIRL by not casting Garcia, and not making the best damn movie ever! Prince of Persia has been a game for long enough, and now, it should be allowed to come alive! And not by Disney, by the way! Disney would make it suitable for LITTLE kids. Prince of Persia shouldn't have to sink down that low to Disney's expectations. Thank You readers and P.O.P. players all over the world! My words are wise and meaningful. Let's hope we can see the prince on the big screen!*** BYE!!!***

First of all, POP is right.
Secondly, in order to create a Prince of Persia movie, there should be an accurate portrayal of Persians, which includes the differentiation of Persians and Arabs. The POP Movie should reflect Persians as who they believe they are, namely Aryans. To compare Persians and Arabs is like comparing Japanese and Chinese, if you present a movie set in China but have the actors speak Japanese and write Japanese then I'm sure in every viewer's mind the movie would be discredited.
The Persian Arab thing is exactly the same but generally people (Non- Near Easterners) have ignorance towards the subject. I believe if the Movie hits it's mark, then people would be better informed about the difference instead of being ignorant.
Third, the Aryan migration theory is widely accepted by scholars and by Persians, you don't have the right to discredit what Persians view as their identity.
Lastly, great job Pop for defending your comments and in fact I wrote a letter to UbiSoft criticizing them for their use of Arab music and wording.
I'm Persian, I'm Aryan, and I don't believe anyone has the right to discredit what I know I am.

Paolo Maltoban? He 'looks' okay, but his voice isn't the same. Adam Garcia's voice is EXACTLY the same! Watch his movies yourself! Trust me. If you watch a movie with Adam Garcia in it, then play Prince of Persia and listen to the prince's voice, you'll see that they are identical! Whoever did the prince's voice in the game must be at least related to Adam Garcia.
P.S.---Who do you think should play Ferah?...

Guys did anyone ever think that in the original POPs that the Prince was not meant to have a personality or style, you are the prince, thats why in the original POP you never had script for the Prince and he never spoke, my point is that in the originals YOU were the prince, therefore putting an actor in his place will do the originals no justice.
However I have not played Sands of Time or Warrior Within, so I dont know if they've turned Prince of Persia into a Solid Snake or whatever kind of character, if they have then please make a movie about those games and leave the originals out of it. You'll just embarass yourself if you try to make a movie about the original.
Anyone who doesnt believe me dig out your Prince of Persia 3D manuals, flip to the introduction page the one with the picture of the Prince, what perspective is it written in? First Person, and i quote
"Sometimes, it still seems like a dream. You, a beggar boy who stowed away on a ship bound for faraway, have become the Prince of Persia."
Think about, does the Prince have a name, a nickname, a history besides his time in Persia, a mother or father or siblings for that matter, nope.
Just look at the introduction, you you you you you, in every paragraph, face it they obviously wanted you to be Prince, Prince the word is only a status, it's no actual name i'd point out.
Therefore assigning him a name and an actor in a movie based on the game will do no justice, I don't that a movie based on the original could do any justice no matter what way it is done.
So please don't do a movie on the original, because people will laugh at you for this obvious media grab.

Why the hell would they do that? F***! The movie might suck now. I think they should make the movie so good that it's rated 'R' or 'X'. Disney is gonna screw up everything! I know this will sound all girly but i think orlando bloom would play an AMAZING prince of persia. WAIT!! before you all start with the: he's such a pretty boy, woss, cant act, s*** consider this: i dont know about you all but one of the things i liked most about the prince in sands of time, the one i like best out of the two new games, was his cute pouty attitude. He matures in the second game from somewhat of a spolit brat to a man but i found his air of arrogence quite a funny little charecteristic and made him much more animated. So now i ask you to imagin this Orlanda bloom saying "i'll meet you at the baths oh sure i'll ask a sand creature : hello could you please direct me to the baths. yes of course i use to work there when i was alive" as he scrambles around those clifs hee hee

Holy crap!!! I was just thinking the same thing! I'm a girl too, and Orlando Bloom would be perfect to play the prince! He even has an accent! And the right hair and face! And that hot and sexy body. I mean, look at all the bloody sword fighting movies he's been in: Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Carribean, Troy, and that new movie Kingdom of Heaven! So I bet if the people making the prince of persia movie asked Orlando Bloom if he wanted to play the Prince, he would do it. It's his type of movie. But you know, no matter who they cast, it will still be a Disney film. Which means the rating won't be higher than PG-13. That makes me so mad. Those people probably think that Prince of Persia is just a kid game, and therefore only for kids. But it's not. You have to be at least 14 to understand the true history and beauty of Prince of Persia. So, that's what I think.***

Um, actualy PERSIAN history falls naturally into two distinct periods: the pre-Islamic and the Islamic, the dividing point being the overthrow of the S?s?nians by the Arabs in the third decade of the seventh century of our era. These two periods occupy each 1,290 years: from Cyrus to the Arab conquest, 550 B. C. to A. D. 641; and from the Arab conquest to the present day, A. D. 1930. The Persians themselves always speak of their country as Ir?n, an ethnic name implying the habitat of the Iranians--a branch of the Indo-European family. The term Persia is derived from the name of the south-westerly province of P?rs (modern F?rs), where the first kings of United Ir?n, the Achaemenids, had their capitals Pasargadae and Persepolis (P?rsa).
As far as we know, the earliest Iranians to settle in what we now call Persia were the Medes who, migrating from the region of Transoxania or Turkestan, established themselves in the country lying between Rhages and Ekbatana in the northwest, probably in the eighth century B. C. Of the early Medes we know very little beyond what may be learnt from the Greek historians and occasional allusions in Assyrian inscriptions--for the Medes.
The Aryans are know for imagrating to India, but i've never heard of them being known for settling in the middle east, as far as Persia goes. Persian is still spoken today; it is seperated into different dialects, Persian-farsi, the dialect of Iran, Persian-darhi, a dialect spoken in Afghanistan and several other dialects. All the dialects naturally are related to arabic, in that they use simalar alphabets, which would justify the use of arabic "looking" scripts in the background, but i'm sure the game designers did thier homework when they designed the game, and since the original writer, Jordan Mechner, will be writting the script for the movie, I'm sure everyone will be thoughouly pleased with the outcome; and who needs to be perfectly acurate anyways, I'm sure the charaters will all be speaking english, unless they pull a Mel Gibson(God help us), and make everyone speak some dead language.

I'm quite tired of seeing good games turn into bad movies. Why don't the producers just change for one moment and do something different? I'm just tired of the same old thing. These people need to be unique and original. That way, I won't have to watch all the bloopers appear in the film and die a little on the inside...

Then they would start to like Prince of Persia, the movie that is, and Prince of Persia would become this huge mainstream gag that sucks. Now, we don't want that to happen to our beautiful Prince, do we?

Yeah, the Sands of Time is being made into a movie. Jerry Bruckheimer is going to produce it through Disney, and Jordan Mechner, the creator of Prince of Persia, will be writing the script. But of course, he's going to have supervision while writing, so that means that some of the storyline might change. Sounds kind of depressing. Well, I hope that answers your questions.

Also if they plan to make a Prince of Persia 2 with disney then that movie is going to really suck because it has to many things that disney can't handle. Also, that guy named Adam Garcia would make a good prince, they actually kind of look alike in some way. I like prince of persia and I'm a BIG fan of it and I hope the movie is good, but please don't screw it up with disney!

My opinion- a Prince of Persia film would rock. The setting, potential historical errors aside, is ripe for the silver screen and the opportunity for amazing vistas and action shouldn't be passed up. The character of the Prince could go either way- Disney or dark (ala Warrior Within). Personally, I think Disney are capable of making a very good film of the liscence- remember Disney don't just make kid's films, contrary to pouplar opinion. I think they are one of the few production houses that could bring the charm of The Sands Of Time to the screen.
As for casting, I believe a lot of the mainstream Hollywood A list would be wrong for the part. Partly because an unknown is better and partly because ethnically they're not quite right. Its also unlikely any of them could deliver action-wise. I hope they hire someone capable of all the physical feats rather than resorting to a Charlie's Angels-esque "teach them for two months and strap em on wires" approach. Physically, Tony Jaa would be a good choice, although his English isn't too hot and the guy's Thai, which makes things a little inaccurate!
Hopefully this film won't sit in development hell for too long...

Cause the persians were made of the safivads who had a creul taste for killing their own children. They muslims made it all better... and if your wondering about the india and arayan thing here's the deal the persians were part of tribes part of them migrated to india and stayed as idol worshipers, as if the statues do anything and the other part stayed corrupted in Perisa until the holy islamic prophet created a muslim empire which took control of most of the known world...Perisa had become richer than england. And muslims had even conquered india, it was a muslim who had construced the taj mahal! and now the muslim countries are being taken over by the dumb english society they just want the damn oil and sorry bout the stupid idol thing you worship what you want! And as for Farah don't you think Nelly Furtado would look good? just check out her Promiscuos video. These people would look great as the leads because of looking identical and their sex appeal. All I know is that I'm sick of disney and Orlando Bloom he wouldn't look right to me. Disney would drag the movie down in flames but I have to agree maybe having the movie animated would be different but if given a choice go with Nelly Furtado and Wentworth Miller if they make another film make the guy who plays Sawyer in the show Lost as the tormented Prince he has the look down pat! -krissie
