The short, hairy-footed peeps, the elves, the wizards, and the ghosts that live inside the mountain; all helped Return of the King smoke last weekends competition. ?The film earned $30 million. ?Steve Martin's Cheaper By the Dozen stayed in 2nd place, earning $21 million.
All of the films in the top ten were slightly off (respectively, King fell off 39%) from last weekend. ?

Editors Note - Lost in Translation has pulled in $30 million since it opened in September, but is ten times a better film than MOST films in the top ten. ?Bill Murray has been given Best Actor nods from the San Francisco, New York, Boston, Toronto, and National film critic circles; plus Indie Spirit and Golden Globe noms. ?It's a damn good film. ?
