I absolutely loved MATRIX REVOLUTIONS!!! Guess what. it doesn?t give you all the answers, you know why? Because there are no answers, only the questions and the beliefs we have about those answers. In the creation of any religion, the answers are never written out, clearly stated for all to understand. That's one of the basic flaws that skeptics of religion have. I mean, these prophets, didn't they like ask God about the bottom line? And if ya just follow those 10 Commandments, is that enough? I mean, I can chow on Pig right?
In MATRIX REVOLUTIONS, the mysteries of that universe have to be preserved, because the only answers are found in one's own contemplation of what you've seen, experienced and sought to understand. The whole point of GOD isn't to give you the answers, but to give you the strength to attain those answers for yourself. None of us know for sure what ?it? all means, but ya know what? The Wachowski Brothers struck that balance that I loved in the original MATRIX? Here, I give a shit about my characters again. The fights? this time they mean LIFE & DEATH again, not testing programs vs programs, or as a metaphor for whether or not you could ?crack? the ?meaning of the Matrix.? ?This time, characters FIGHT to be reunited with the people they love. They RACE to get back home. They FIGHT desperate last stands to protect a way of life. They fight for the very existence of it all. THAT?S WHAT WAS MISSING LAST TIME FOR ME!!!
This time, the religious, psycho-babble mumbo-jumbo returns to the subtext where it belongs, with characters CARING about what was going on. Being AFRAID of what was next. TERRIFIED about not being in control. And learning the lessons that lead to understanding and life.

There are no answers, because the answers are really questions we ask ourselves, and only deep down can we really answer those questions, whose answers are answers unto themselves, baseless like space, yet infinite like the microverse, questionable from afar, and deeper still with forboding answers that we question, and then inhale, accepting as the one universal truth that has no answers.
Worst review ever.

There were answers in revolutions. The answer is in the whole series (movies).
Neo is a product of the machine world. He is there to refine the program from the machine world and enhance the Matrix's ability to keep everyone from waking up.
The NEO 6.0 version is more inclined to fall in love (hence when he met those constructs at the train station they knew about love).
Unfortunately in creating NEO, they also created the Smiths. NEO joins with the Over machine, whose subcomponents are the architect, oracle etc etc. Only the Smith's are not components of the machine but free roaming. He dupes the Smiths into infecting Neo giving the Over machine a chance to remove the infection in its core.
Neo is then taken away for further processing. However he is now a part of the Matrix.
One possibility is that when the architect says he has made and destroyed 5 other versions of the Matrix, did the Over machine have the plan in mind. There was a possibility that the Over machine would fail. Hence the Oracle believed that Neo would win. As the Oracle said, it depends on choice.

I wondered why the machine's dragged Neo away. I mean- sure they're not just gonna let them sit there.. but are they gonna give him a proper burial or something? Then, I thought.. the Matrix isn't gone. Far from it. The peace isn't going to last for very long; it's more than likely that the machines will make the first move. So, my theory is: the machines took him away, to research him, and understand his powers. Therefore, they could make updates to prevent higher powers (or other "The Ones") from rising up to fight for Zion again, and make the Agents just as (or more) powerful. So.. the Matrix is far from an end. The real quiestion is: will they film another? If they do, it'll probably be a prequel.

Just a couple of unanswered points,
The end of the first matrix happens about 18 months after the beginning (according to the dates appearing on the screen at the beginning and end) At the very end before you see Neo on the phone, the matrix code is shown and has "system failure" in the centre, Neo is then speaking to somebody on the phone and says "I am going to show them what you don't want them to see, and show them a world with out you, a world without control" etc... Anyone would assume this represented the end of the whole trilogy (due to the system failure and Neo supposedly talking to the Machines), but it doesn't add up with Revolutions.
Also in reloaded, how did Bain and whoever it was bring a package from the Oracle into the real world from the Matrx?.

NEO HOLDS PART OF A CODE (WHEN GIVEN THE OPTION TO CHOOSE THE DOOR TO REBUILD ZION AND DESTRY THE MATRIX, THIS WOULD OF BEEN THE CODE TO RE-BUILD THE MATRIX, HENCE WHY THE ARCHITECT WANTED HIM TO CHOOSE THIS DOOR). WHEN HE JUMPED INTO AGENT SMITH AT THE END OF THE FIRST MATRIX HE AND AGENT SMITHS CODES WERE BOTH OVERWRITTEN BY EACHOTHERS, HENCE AGENT SMITH BECAME MORE POWERFULL (GAINING THE ABILLITY TO CLONE HIMSELF), AND NEO DEVELOPED SKILLS SUCH AS BEING ABLE TO SENCE MACHINES AND HAVE A CERTAIN CONTROL OVER THEM (THIS IS ALSO HOW HE SEES THEM IN AN ORANGE GLOW).

SORRY, THIS IS ALSO HOW HE CAN ENTER THE MATRIX WITHOUT BEING JACKED IN, BECAUSE HE GRADUALLY BECAME MORE OF A PROGRAM, IN THE SAME WAY SMITH BECAME MORE HUMAN (CLONING HIMSELF, BECOMMING THE VIRUS HE EARLIER DESCRIBED THE HUMAN RACE AS BEING). AS AS A CAUSE OF THE CODES BEING OVERWRITTEN IN THE MATRIX#1, AS WRITTEN ABOVE.

IN THE MATRIX#1 @ THE BEGINNING OF THE FILM THERE IS A TRANSMISSION AND YOU HEAR TRINITY SPEAK, THERE IS ALSO ONE AT THE END BEFORE YOU SEE NEO IN THE PHONE BOX. THERE IS ALSO A MATRIX CODE SAYING SYSTEM FAILURE.
IF YOU CHECK THE DATES ON BOTH TRANMISSIONS THEY ARE ABOUT 18 MONTHS APART, BUT THE FIRST FILM IS ONLY BASED ON A COUPLE OF WEEKS (NEOS HAIR IS STILL SHORT IN THE REAL WORLD AT THE END, AND NEO DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO SENSE THE MACHINES YET, BUT HE SAYES HE CAN FEEL THEM IN THE PHONE CALL). SO
THE END OF THE FIRST ONE IS THE END OF THE TRILOGY, NEO (ALTHOUGH HIS BODY HAS DIED IN THE REAL WORLD) IS STILL JACKED INTO THE MATRIX, IN THE SAME WAY IT WAS AT THE BEGINNING OF REVOLUTIONS, THE BODY CANOT LIVE WITHOUT THE MIND, BUT THE MIND CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE BODY. MAYBE HE TAKES CONTROL OF THE MATRIX (WHICH IS WHY IT SAYS SYSTEM FAILURE), HE THEN SAYES "I KNOW YOUR OUT THERE, I CAN FEEL YOU" (HE CAN FEEL THE MACHINES), "I AM GOING TO SHOW THESE PEOPLE WHAT YOU NEVER WANTED THEM TO SEE, A WOLD WITHOUT CONTROL, A WOLRD WITHOUT BOUDARYS", THIS IS THE REAL END OF THE TRILOGY.

I like the theory about that was posted [The real end of the Trilogy(Nov 9 2003)] - I think that was very creative but it still doesnt explain why they didn't just reply that clip or re-inforce That Fact so that people don't get lost as to what happend at the end. Also, why is Neo's body dead? What killed him? Regarding the Achitect - if they distroyed Zion, why did He need to rebuild the Matrix- Why couldnt these issues be included in the ending of Revolutions? If there is an agreement of Peace made between Neo the Machine World at the end of Revolutions, and if the end of Matrix#1 is the End of the trillogy, then why does Neo talk so agressively over the phone when there is supposed to be peace between the two. This should and could have been easily explained at the end of revolutions - there was more than enough time. - pls email me with any further insites you may have . I need answers pls! p_thomas7@yahoo.com

That "Real End Of Trilogy" theory DOES make sense.. OMG!....wow......... but anywho.. the person above me, no use in complaining about how confused you are because if the Wachowski brothers WANTED the movied to make sense, then it would've made sense. But they didn't want it to, they wanted you to think.. which is something everyone needs to do more of these days. So live with it and be happy the way it is.

Morpheus said to neo that there was that the one was born in te matrix when it was first designed and that the oracle prophisised his return.
Humans are not born in the matrix, programs are. I think that neos mind is controlled by a program, the program of the one.
The program needs a Human body inorder to live in the real world as well as the matrx. (smiths program also overwrites bains mind in revolutions).
This would explain why neo ends up @ the station with the little girl without being plugged in. The path of the one was supposed to end by neo choosing the door that rebuilds zion and the matrix, but he never chose that door. As far as the matrix is concerned, the program is no longer needed, so it is sent to that station, like the little girl was, thie indian said that this was the place form programs that have no use and that his little girls program had no use).
This would also explain how end of the first matrix is the end of all, noes program live on in the matrix, but his body is dead in the real world.

A few questions?
1) If Neo is a program, how is he able to see without his eyes in the real world? Also, how is he able to feel the presence and destroy machines in the real world? I don?t understand how if the machines created him as a program, they can give him his powers and he can use them outside of the matrix. That?s like saying you have a computer game disc, and you are able to play the game without putting it into your computer.
2) About the ending of the first matrix being the end of the trilogy. I don?t see how this makes sense. Why would Neo be saying this to the machines if peace was just made and if the Architect guaranteed that the humans would be freed from the matrix? Also, in the second Matrix they never said how long it had been since Neo had begun freeing people. Morpheus did say that Neo had freed more minds in the last six months than in the last six years, but how do we know when he started and that he just didn?t free that many minds before these six months?
3) When smith was deleted was everyone else in the matrix that he copied killed as well. I know the Oracle wasn?t and nor was the little girl, or seraph, but these are programs not actual humans. Everyone couldn?t have been killed right? Because how would the machines have been able to start the matrix over again so soon, the machines can?t just create humans that fast. And if the humans (or humans minds rather) that smith did copy over did live, then why didn?t Neo live after Smith was deleted?
4) Do you think it is at all possible that Neo just has supernatural powers, and that the machines didn?t necessarily create him to be a program, but rather they knew which human was the ?One? and could duplicate him again and again?
Neo's not a program he's the result of an Anomaly

I agree with the person that posted "Answer me This" topic. His questions good and i share the same view. Why is Neo dead? And Neo was not purposly created by the Matrix - the Architect told Neo that his powers in Inherent with the unbalanced equation in the Matrix - Thus any Human being was subject to the possibility of being 'The One'.
Also - Is Neo still alive and how do we know , with try to use that rediculous theory of 'the end of Matrix#1 is the end of the trilogy' because like the person the wrote the topic about "Answer me This", that theory doesnt make sense!

this writer is confused about religion and the Matrix. Revolutions needed a screenwriter. it felt rushed. too many cliche and cheap lines. and morpheus took a back seat. it never answered the dramatic question in the first matrix, that is, is it man or the machine? because good stories always answer the dramamtic question (though may leave other questions unanswered), i believe Revolutions fails. symbolism aside, Matix started well in the first episode but needed help in the latter two. if we allow for symbolism in this critique, Matrix does accomplish a counter-purpose to its plan, mainly, that sycretism in religion is incoherent.

Matrix 1 and 2 are without doubt, excellent.
At the end of 2, I didn't expect smith downloading himself into a human body and how it ended so abruptly, very dramatic.
Yet in the last one, why would the machines give up so easily over a simple program, smith?
Couldn't the Architect simply duplicate or create a new matrix and transfer everyone already pluged in the current matrix into the new one. Thus removing the smith and the one anomoly.
Also, how did Neo destroy robots in the 'real world'? was it supernatural? At first i thought that he was still in the matrix, like it was stated earlier, matrix level 2.
But the Matrix revolutions was predictable
it also left to many questions unanswered, delibrately.
Machines are the good guys

i think the machines are the good guys cuz in the 1st movie morpheus says "we dont know who struck first, us or them." So its possible that "we" struck first. And leaving the machines w/ only one option, to restrain the humans until they prove to them that we are ready for peace. Resulting in the Matrix, a computer generated dream world to KEEP US UNDER CONTROL. Now leading to the path of the One. I believe that every time the Matrix was rebboted the genetic code of the previos One was a program transfered to the next One, and the true purpose of the one was to prove to the machines that the humans are ready for peace. SO W/ THE ONE haveing this program he is basically a machine in the matrix,"Hes a machine"-(Tank) so him falling in love w/ trinity is proving that the machines want peace w/ humans by there enemy loveing a human. This also showed the architect that he dident want to restart the matrix and continue the war , but to end it by not choosing the easy path out. And with the architect seeing that he dosent want to continue fighting but to end it , he proves that humans are ready for peace and thats why the machines just gave up so easily by accepting neos offer to free all the humans from the matrix. It also stats in the animatrix that the machines felt sorry for the humans

Which is why I loved the third one so much. Such satisfaction from seeing peace- if temporary- from the two races. Ever since I watched the Animatrix (an excellent dvd to get, by the way) I've sided mostly with the machines, but neither one was truly innocent or guilty. The humans put down, enslaved, disrespected the robots, even trying to exterminate them from the earth (cool egyptian slave oppression/african american oppression themes here) and so the robots fought back, and with their superior intelligence, logic and durability laid waste and enslaved their former opressors. In a highly bloody and efficient manner, I might add. Both races were fighting for what they believed in, and in doing so destroyed each other (interesting note- look back in your history books: in every single case of violence in history, it has been caused by beliefs. Every single non-natural disaster like terrorism, war, and oppression has been caused by beliefs. Lends a good reason to being an athiest pacifist)
In any case, I'm extremely shocked and hurt that Revolutions got as bad or worse a score than reloaded on many review sites. While its script might have left something to be desired, its ideas and its portrayal of them is as fascinating and gripping as ever. Not to mention that they all look so stylish in their black leather. Heh, I like the part where trin flips over the subway turnstile; cool stuff. Wow I ramble a lot.
Machine's and Smith

Why the machine's were so worried about Smith was kind of obvious. He's nigh invincible and ruthlessly insane. They can't delete him, since he's unplugged, per se, and anyway he inhabits all the humans in the Matrix. Deleted all of him (interesting words) would result in the extinction of the humans still unplugged. Also, once he starts getting out of the Matrix, how long will it be before possessed humans start attacking, or sentinals become more copies of Smith? Smith was out of their league, and if he was allowed to continue he would have destroyed everything on Earth like the virus he is. He even says "the purpose of life is to end" that's how he looks at it. That's his purpose. Besides killig Neo. Neo, the other end of the equation, is the machine's only hope, and since he made it past their defenses, and was so respectful and stalwart in the face of their leader, a temporary peace is made between them and the humans to battle a common enemy.

This is what I make of the matrix and it?s concepts. The actual message can be very different...it?s just how I perceive it :P. enjoy!
1. ABOUT NEO: Neo is not a software. He is a human being, a rather smart computer program hacker whose consciousness roams in the matrix. He is just another trapped human in the matrix who happens to have a superior understanding of the machine?s intelligence. However he is unique in the sense that he is the sample human being the machine has chosen to make conscious choices.
2. THE ARCHITECT: The purpose of the architect is to run a smooth system free of anomalies. He is an artificial entity employed by the machine to maintain harmony that is to make sure the trapped humans keep on dreaming, so that the machine remains powered. The precision inclined view of the architect contradicts with Neo, since neo makes choices based on emotions, not rationality. However, architect is still interested to learn what makes neo make such choices, because he himself is unable to look past any choices, he is only good at balancing the equations of the matrix. So he uses the knowledge that he learns from Neo to make better dreams. Without lifelike dreams, the matrix world would become a nightmare, the inhabitants would kill themselves, and that way machine would lose it?s steady flow of energy. This is why Neo is important to the machine. From Neo the machine tries to learn the usefulness of hope, love and the choices that result from those. This is why at the end, instead of being killed, Neo is consumed by the machine, completely integrating with it. The last five times Neo was created, he did not return to the source, and zyon was destroyed. This time he blended with the machine, evident, as he could not be differentiated from the glowing electricity of the machine at the end of the trilogy. Unlike when he first walked in to meet the Over machine, he was a man of flesh visible as a dark figure against the luminous electricity of the machine. As Neo said to the architect at the end of the reloaded ?If I were you, I?d hope that we would not meet again?, and the architect said, ?we won?t?. We now realize why not.
3. THE FRENCHMAN: The Frenchman Mervengien occupied the position of the architect once. However, he was put to exile by the machine, because with his hedonistic bias, and his obsession with power, he was making the matrix unstable. Being human, he is an example of how absolute power corrupts absolutely. However, he is powerful enough to maintain his presence in the matrix despite his banishment and successful in retaining and manipulating the knowledge of all five previous matrix generations. He is capable of granting refuge to other software in exile, a demonstration of his ability to elude the control of the matrix. Denied of his position, he does not want to help the machine anymore. But he is also not ready to help humans because he thinks he is more deserving than any human to control the matrix. Therefore he refuses to hand over the keymaker to the humans.
4. THE ORACLE: Oracle is also a creation of the machine; she was created to learn the intricacies of human psyche. To interact with humans, she carries the traits of empathy, like all humans, she loves freedom. She wants to see the humans free. She prefers anomalies in the matrix because humans are by nature anomalous. Having human characteristics, a system that conforms to anomalies, not discordant with it, is more natural to her. She always stimulates the humane part of Neo, the candy that she offers to Neo is actually a stimulant that helps neo to make more humane choices. Neo refuses to take the candy later on, and therefore his connections with the machine grows stronger; neo becomes more rational and intent on returning to the source, deeming it the inevitable action to be taken in order to save zyon.
5. SMITH: The machine created Smith as an agent, to block the attempts of the rebels to free matrix inhabitants. After Neo destroyed him, his leftovers was merged with Neo to some extent, this caused him to be free and not a part of the matrix anymore. He gained some abilities including the ability to copy himself etc. A loose cannon, he started to simulate his definition of human behavior, survival through multiplication and consumption of resources, eventually taking over the matrix. Smith believes that the purpose of all things is to end. He grew up on the pessimistic and negative aspects of Neo, promoting chaos. However, his ambition and propensity towards chaos became a natural threat to the machine, since he was now expanding his power in both machine world and the matrix, with an aim to put everything to end.
6. SATI: Software are exiled from the matrix, when they are antiquated or when they choose to explore the matrix to learn new things and to contribute with the things they have learned. Or they can return to the source. Sati the little girl was such a software who with her parents learnt about love from Neo.
7. THE PURPOSE OF THE MACHINE: The triumph of Smith has taught the machine that the dark side of a free consciousness is formidable when combined with the logic and efficiency of machine. Though the introduction of a savior is essential to improve and sustain the quality of dreamworld, it comes with the risk of accidents like Smith, those the machine cannot afford. In this stalemate condition, the machine is skeptic about the transient peace rejoiced by humans. Because it still wants to understand the choices the one makes and how those choices empower him, so that it can prevent such ?the ones? from arising to defend zyon in the future, and can also make superior but controllable agents to cope with such rebels. So the purpose of the machine is to control good and to tame evil, and survive in the process of doing it.
