Fox Searchlight has annouced a remake of The Fly. What is with all the remakes? Is there not an original mind left in Hollywood? If they make one more variation of Seven Samurai I'll probably kill someone.
(SCI FI WIRE) Fox Searchlight has just made a deal to remake the classic SF movie The Fly, with newcomer Todd Lincoln writing the script and directing, Variety reported. Lincoln's resume consists of commercials, shorts and music videos, the trade paper reported.
Searchlight was encouraged by the sleeper success of its summer zombie movie 28 Days Later. Lincoln, an avowed horror buff, told the trade paper that he admires the 1958 original Fly and David Cronenberg's 1986 remake.
"This is certainly inspired by the original, but it's a total re-imagining," Lincoln told the trade paper. He added, "Why, in both films, did the fly never fly?"

Yes aparently we are.... We have run out of ideas. Here let me help the industry out, I have a great idea! Lets just let Tim Burton and his creepy goofey "movie magic" redo all the great cinema hits. Then we can watch in awestruck dumbfoundedness as such characters as ET teenwolf run around in latex suites with rubber nipples!!!

i think they shouldnt redo the movie again. The original with vincent price is a classic. the remake with jeff goldblum is a modern classic. it had badass special effects. if they are gonna use special effects in this second remake its problably gonna be computerized fly, which i think would suck. they should make the fly 3 since the fly 2 was pretty badass.

I would vote for The Fly 3 ... or rather, FLIES, Geena Davis's sequel that was announced ten years ago, and never happened. It ignored the events of THE FLY II, and had twin brothers turning into flies. Interesting.

I would love to see what they do now with this movie. The only thing that I worry about is will it have the psychological fear and despire that made the the 1986 version so popular. Don't subtitude CGI with great acting and plot.

Remakes do not suck. "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978) is just as brillant as the original, as is "The Fly" (1986). I say go with another remake. With a well written script, good directing, acting and a blend of CGI, makeup and animatronics, it will be fantastic!
