Weird-Ass Live Action Batman Short Filmed!!

Topic: News By Wind(up)bird July 20, 2003 2:40 PM

All the details aren't clear, but what appears to possibly be a live action, secret Batman screen test of sorts exists. ?There are rumors that it might be shown at the ComicCon in San Diego this weekend, but most screenings as of late have seemed to have taken place in private. ? Updated!

The people that have seen it, seem to be unwilling to divulge who made it (maybe it's an illegal use of the character, we don't know). ? The short has been shown via DVD with cast and crew photos included. ?Which makes the fact that no one knows who made it all the more freaky.

Follow the link for a more indepth description and pics of the Bat (in cloth instead of rubber).

Update: by Jack 07/18/03 3:30pm PST
The short film titled Batman: Dead End is written & directed by commercial director and special effects expert Sandy Collora (IMDB Profile, Home Page) and stars "America's Most Trusted Fitness Personality," Clark Bartram as "Bats" with Andrew Koenig (son Star Trek regular Walter Koenig) as The Joker.

I think the joker really looks like Adrien Brody.

And Batman looks like Striperello.

It's hard to judge just on these stills. Still, doesn't look terrible. After the joke that the shiny, pretty-looking Hollywood crap franchise has become, I'd welcome a more back-to-basics, stripped-down look for the Dark Knight.

I just watched "Batman: Dead End." Very cool. Very different. It's not at all what I expected.

I can imagine Sandy Collora getting some sort of movie deal soon.

Having seen this, I have to say it was impressive.  The unfolding of the plot was unexpected and well executed.  The dialogue between the Joker and Bats was to the point and consistent with their characters.  Bertram as Bats didn't quite have the look I expected, or the voice, but the Joker was spot-on.  The rest of the short is just cool.

Just an extension of the comics where Batman has faced off against both Alien and the Predator.  Of course he's been facing the Joker for 0ver 60 yuears.

As a friend of the new up and coming star, it's about time we get back to basics with the REAL Batman......  Kudos and can't wait for production to begin!

I saw the movie and i thought it was Great. The fact that it was an illegal us of the charecters, makes no diffrence at all. The idea was awesome. Yes the charecters looked a little cheesy but what do you excpect when it takes you 6 years to put something like this together, which in this case it did. All in all I would like to see something like this on the big screen. So what if some fitness expert plays batty, if the use of the alien and predator is illegal, it was a good little movie the only screwed up part was the ending.
