1. It's from the bible:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name..
Jesus Hallowed Christ
2. It stands for "Haploid." This is an old bio major joke, referring to the unique (not to say immaculate) circumstances of Christ's conception.
3. It comes from the Greek monogram for Jesus, IHS or IHC. This is formed from the first two letters plus the last letter of his name in Greek (the letters iota, eta, and sigma). The H is actually the capital letter form of eta, but churchgoers who were unfamiliar with Greek took it to be a Latin H.

I don't think you can group this with any other Jesus movies. And yeah, how remarkably sinfully we are. But what do you think of a God who is willing to die for us to save us from that sin? Watch the movie (not just the trailer) and then answer that.

Thank you for that. It is QUITE rare that people at all realize what love it took to LEAVE a perfect place like heaven and come to this rotten earth and live the perfect life for mankind and be THE sacrifice to make a way to heaven for man. And, yes, the ONLY way to heaven is through calling upon His name to be your Lord and Saviour and believing his death, burial and resurrection was enough to buy your pardon to heaven.(John 14:6) Seems too simple in this world, as many religions have proven...

Thank you Mel for telling the story of my Savior, Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one can come to the Father (or heaven) without acknowledging that. Becoming a Christian means living the life He created us for, to His glory and honor.

I thank God for Mel's courage in the face of so much defamation, ridicule, and evil faslely spoken of him, all because he wants to share the Gospel with as many people as possible. I urge all Christians to continue to pray for Mel and his work that God would use him to spread the Gospel to as many people as possible.
"But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us(*us being born-again Christians), through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. 9 But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless." Titus 3:5-9
Brothers and Sisters, I urge you to not partake in useless arguments, but let God speak to others through our own lives.
May God richly bless you.

i can't believe how dumb your response was. i actually laughed. "jesus is the alpha & omega, sorry jack." when the bible says that He is the alpha and omega, what that MEANS is that he is the beginning and the end. not that His name is "the beginning and the end". that's just something he is. when the romans questioned Him, they didn't say, "hey you, yeah, alpha omega guy, that's right. did you do all this stuff?" no, they just called him jesus. sorry, jack. maybe you should read your bible more. or maybe a book about not being stupid.

Yes facts are facts...the Jews did not kill Jesus. No more than anyone else - He came to die for sinners...so sin is what killed Him. It just happened that He was Jewish, and His life took place in a Jewish nation, with lots of Jews around Him. He came initially for His own (the Jews) and they rejected Him. But He knew they would - God the Father knew they would! It was foretold in the Old Testament, & believe me He knew the OT! I'm grateful He was rejected by His own - it gave me a chance to accept Him as MY OWN (Savior that is). God is not done with the Jews. By the time history is finished, they will play a very big part. And they will turn back to Him.
What happened to freedom of speech?

If Mel had made a movie that had some priest killed and maimed horribly... or showed some teenage geek having sex with a cherry pie... or even a movie that made Christians look foolish.... he would have been supported by the ACLU.... So what about his freedom of speech now?
Good grief... if his movie is banned, then so should every slasher-killer-blood-and-gore flick in the future.
If his movie is banned because it offends a particular group, then so should any movie which can be found offensive...
My advice to those of you who do not support Mel is the same advice Christians have been told when they have been offended by the media... just don't go see it. No one is forcing you to.
As for me and my house, we will support God and Mr. Gibson.
