Finding Nemo opened with the best debut ever for a Pixar/Disney film. Execs are sure to be celebrating today as Pixar Animation Studios Inc. and Walt Disney Co. shares jump with the announced success.

It's the Season of the Disposable Movie. None of the flicks that have come out have had much in the way of staying power. Look at the Matrix, nobody's going to see it more than once. Also X-Men, Bruce, etc. It's a reflection of the general crappiness out there.

I'm not talking about staying at No. 1, I'm talking about simply having some staying power. That doesn't mean keeping the top spot the whole time. That means doing some kind of substantial business past the opening weekend. Losing 60 percent of your audience isn't very encouraging. I bet you anything they'll now hack into Matrix: Revolutions to get it down to a PG-13. That way, they'll be able to count on all those tweener boys (12-16 year olds) going to see it multiple times in the theater, thus increasing studio jack.
