Bill Murray gives Garfield a Voice

Actor/comedian Bill Murray has signed on to voice the role of Garfield the Cat in the live-action/CGI film directed by Peter Hewitt (Thundercats) for 20th Century Fox.

Here's a piece of useless trivia, The guy who did the voice of Garfield in the old cartoon TV series also did the voice of Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters cartoon TV series, and that character was of course played in the movie by... Bill Murray.

That guy who originally did Garfield's voice was Lorenzo Music, and he's dead (2001). For some of us old(ish)-timers, he's better known for being the disembodied Carlton the Doorman on Rhoda. http://us.imdb.com/Name?Music,%20Lorenzo

Im not sure I could like a movie without the original voice of garfield ...too bad about Lorenzo Music, I just found out he is no long with us. I sure hope bill murray can pull it off.. still, it just wont be the same....

I'd love to have the gravely voice of Doyle Murray for Garfield.  He soundes even less like Lorenzo then his younger brother, but it would sound really cool.  I still get a kick out of him when he was on Seinfield.  He played the father of the bubble boy and explained to Jerry that when his son saw him on the 'Tonight Show' the boy laughed so hard that he had to give him an extra shot of hemoglobin.
