New Age Media Concepts has conspired with theater owners nationwide to force advertising down the throats of "captive" movie audiences. ?
You've heard about how the French force feed cream to geese to fatten up their livers? ?Yeah, they nail the poor bastard's little webbed feet to the floor and shove a funnel down is long goose neck and start pouring. ?"Now that's what I call a 'captive audience'" a source at NAMC said with a wink.
Well, my friends, that's what New Age Media Concepts would like to do to you. ?But what you'll be getting doesn't come from a cow. ?Nope. ?It's more like good old fashioned American advertising--Chevy's and Coca-Cola, and shit like that. ?And this is after you've laid down some real dough to see a movie! ?Paying to watch advertising--now that's something.
"With approximately 6000 theaters in the United States today we have tapped into over 10% of that market, we feel that we will have a presence in over 30% in the near future. We welcome media buyers to be a part of what we have to offer.? stated Louis Victor of New Age Media Concepts, Inc.
I want to thank NAMC for sending us their press release (see previous story) so we can share it with y'all. ?Send Louis Victor a message at www.namct.com and tell him what you think of the idea. ?
Now don't worry too much about that throat raping business. ?An anonymous source at NAMC, not Louis Victor, says "believe me, if you just relax and let it go all the way down your throat, you won't have to taste it until later on when you burp."

So what? There's been ads shown before movies at the theater for years, what's new about this?

Even though big cities like NYC and Chicago have had tons of ads for years, most of the country hasn't. At most, there'll be maybe 1 or 2 short ads to go along with the trailers. It's pretty sickening.

Just do what I do: Don't show up to the theater until 10-15 minutes (or more) after the official start time. I know that there's going to be about that much time wasted on ads and stupid trailers before the movie (which is what I actually paid to see) comes on, so I know I have that much extra time to get my buttt into a seat. It's called stickin' it to the man.

Did anyone actually check what this advertising constited of? It is not comercials running before trailers. NAMC has built kiosks that can be placed in theater lobbies. They will run ads for products and patrons can buy products directly from the kiosk using smart, credit, debit cards.
I guess I'd be for the idea if ad revenue lets my local theater price a soda below three bucks.

That's never going to happen. The theater's not going to lower concession prices because they're making money from other revenue streams. As long as people keep paying the prices set for concessions (and they do, the great majority of the time), they'll keep charging higher prices. That's where the big money is for theater owners.

At my local theater if you get there after most other people have arrived then you've got to sit right down the front where the seating isn't staggered and you get neck cramp from looking upwards. I don't care much for the ads but I actually quite like the trailers so the whole thing doesn't bother me much. Besides, no one's forcing you to buy the products advertised.
