Weekend Top Ten Box Office Films

X2: X-Men United, the first summer blockbuster of the year opened stronger than the first with an estimated $85.85 million. This changes the track record for an otherwise disappointing year.

The top ten films for the weekend, according to studio estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

1.	X2: X-Men United	$88.5 million
2.	The Lizzie McGuire Movie	$17.0 million
3.	Identity	$9.5 million
4.	Anger Management	$8.5 million
5.	Holes	$6.5 million
6.	Malibu's Most Wanted	$4.0 million
7.	Confidence	$2.5 million
8.	It Runs in the Family	$1.5 million
9.	Bend It Like Beckham	$1.4 million
10.	Bulletproof Monk	$1.4 million

It's a movie about football soccer. A girl wants to play it but her family doesn't let her. The title it's because the girl's idol is David Beckham, star of England squad (and Victoria "Spice Girl" Adams husband), whose speciality is throwing powerful curved shots (as a matter of fact, that's the only thing he does). So, if she want to play great, she should "bend it like Beckham". It's british humor.

Didn't David Beckham score the winner against Argentina in the soccer world cup? Or am I thinking of some other sport.

I normally don't give a sh*t about soccer, football or whatever the hell you call it but I have to admit i got quite into the big tornament they had in Japan cos the USA were pretty good and went quite far. Argentina were meant to be like the best team and they got knocked out in the first stage!

So wait, you're saying that it was arranged that France and Argentina would have to play much harder teams earlier on while Brasil and Germany would get an easy ride all the way to the final?

Yes. Brasil was in a group with China, Turkey, and Costa Rica, teams without any history in the World Cup (first two were debutants) and Argentina was put with England, when the usual is that this last nation get a group of his own.

I think it's to do with the seeding system and FIFA always f*ck it up. I think it's decided on whether or not your team is seeded on how they performed in previous world cups which, considering that the tornament is every 4 years and the squad of players for each country is completely different, is just plain stupid. Having said that, Turkey weren't a bad team, they came 3rd overall.

3rd place in the last 3 World Cups was always some unexpected team. Sweden, Croatia and now Turkey. Good for the competitivity, after all.

And Spain lost with Greece. But usually, little teams had "fear to the shirt" when they play against bigger teams.

It's when you are scared of facing a team with more history than yours, but actually they're not so good like they were. Means you're afraid of the uniform, not of the men.
