Colin Powell Bites Thumb at France

Topic: We are bored By SKillBot April 23, 2003 9:15 AM

As part of the Bush Administration's campaign for making the US look like a nation of spoiled jackasses, Powell confirms that "there are consequences for standing up to the United States" and that "We have to look at all aspects of our relationship with France in light of this".

How cleverly he forgets that without the assistance of France in the American Revoution, Powell wouldn't have such a nation from which to leverage his power as a complete jackass in going along with the "patriotic" anti-French sentiment.

What I see as the biggest flaw in this whole issue is the French being singled out as an official body on which to exercise these sentiments. Should these comments not be directed as well at the millions in the U.S. and around the world who share the same feelings as the French government?

Really, someone show me how acting like a rotten child toward a nation who offers a voice of reason and no threat is beneficial to anything.

In fact , here in France we think the fries are belgians , not french :) we don't say french water but minerale water etc ...

And of course we like american people as well as iraqian people : it's a government matters , not a people matters i think. But don't worry we also have an a--hole of the month in the person of chirac, he should be in prison here , not discussing about war and peace and whatever things he doesn't really care for :) France helped USA during the independance war, USA during WW1 and WW2 so that's not a problem of who owns who. Sometimes i wish our sweet dickhead at the goverment fight each other once for all and let us do our job meanwhile, us the people, peacefully.

Don't feel bad about Chirac Frenchies, it was either him or that Nazi guy so you didn't have much of a choice.

Powell's the only one who has a shot of keeping our heads of state from blowing everyone up. He's also the one who's going to make sure France and the rest are still friends at the end of the day. Make fun of the regime, they certainly deserve it, but have the decency to get your people straight.

As much as I hate the standpoint of " is only doing their job as best they can", I can look at Powell that way and admire much of what he has done.

My concern is that the US seems more concerned with managing its alliances than fixing their messes.

And you don't know how bad I wanted an excuse to slap that cheesy picture together. I mean look at the facial expression!

There's a reason why France's national symbol is a chicken.

being a chicken means nothing in france ; we have to say "wet chicken" in order to get the same sense of "coward" but if you want to discuss about courage, well don't you think that the funniest thing in the world is guys that never go to war like Bush jr, & his bunch of a--holes under him and 99 % of internet suckers, wants war at all price ( yeah not his own blood of course , US soldier's blood his cheaper and safer ), and guys that made war like Powell wants peace at all price ? :-)))))))
and ho by the way , what is the animal for republicans and democrats ? oh yes : that mr donkey and big ass elephant ;-)

Australia-Argentina? Since when are we a single country?

RE: Good point   > reply

Posted by Jack (jack@dtheatre.com) on April 29, 2003 11:14 AM

Australia, Argentina, America and Africa have been a single country since Bush became Prez and started grouping countries by their first and last letters.
